"We need to do this quickly

"We need to do this quickly. Who knows what might be on the way." I mutter as I glance around the room we entered, tossing the unconscious captain to the side.

A dozen or so monitors filled the room we were currently in, sitting on desks and mounted on walls. One wall was made of glass and allowed us to overlook the lab below. The pods connected to the lab contained somewhere between three to five cells, each including individuals. However, after viewing the monitors, only one pod with four cells contained humans, while the rest were beings I only thought I'd see in movies.

I could feel my temples start to pulse painfully. This was a lot to take in. I hadn't expected that the alien DNA was coming from intelligent beings. I expected something like what would be in a Petrie dish, like bacteria. I couldn't decide which one I would've preferred.

"Why is he here?" Jax questioned, motioning towards the captain and breaking me from my thoughts.

"Don't know, but he'll be useful one way or another." I didn't know why I kept him alive. I knew he wouldn't help navigate the ship, even if I chopped off his extremities. Maybe I only kept him alive to play with him?

"Well, that won't be the case if he bleeds out." I snorted at Ron's comment. I glanced at the captain, looking momentarily at his leg, which had a steady stream of blood flowing out of it and pooling on the floor.

"I won't let him die yet." I said reassuringly. Ron and Jax shot him a fleeting glance before turning their attention back to the monitors.

"What's the plan?" Jax asked, swiveling in the chair he sat in.

"Plan? There is no plan, it'll either work or it won't." I say, cringing. I was lucky that I had gotten this far without a plan.

"So you plan to release all these... people in hopes that they just do what? Cooperate?" Ron scoffed.

"Some of these mother fuckers look vicious. How do we even know if they will respond well to us?" Jax quipped while leaning back as far as the chair could go and resting his feet on a desk.

"Ahh.... good point, you guys should probably stay behind the scenes for right now." It wouldn't bode well if one of the first people they saw resembled their captors. They were right, I couldn't walk in there without a plan, and it's not like I could communicate with these creatures...

"Hmm, do you think they might be able to understand us?" I lean over to a monitor and look at the sleeping figures that will soon be stirred awake.

"Unlikely." Ron irritably muttered while shifting impatiently on his feet.

"Have a problem? If you have any ideas, feel free to speak up." I growl. Ron casts me a fearful look before turning his attention to a larger monitor.

"Then let's start here. Hey you, wake up." I walked over and bent down in front of the unconscious captain, shaking him roughly. "I require your assistance." He stirred awake and opened one eye to glare at me viciously.
