Zorr males in purple robes sat at a circular table in the center of the room. There were nine in total, Morrel among them. The table itself was hollow in the center, accommodating a projector of some sort. When Ezic and I entered the room, The Planetary Council was already prepared for our arrival.
"Welcome, please take a seat, young ones." A deep eerie voice echoed around the room dauntingly. Commanding us to walk further into the room. The one who spoke was a man whose age I couldn't decipher. He had black skin and graying hair that flowed down his back in thick greasy waves. Horns jutted out drastically from his forehead and traveled back over the top of his head before stopping and curling to the sides. It reminded me of the horned beasts I saw being led by shepherds back at the native market on Zorron.
Ezic and I sat at one edge of the table while the council remained seated across from us. Above us was a magnificent mural of a battle between Zorr and something else, another alien race, I presumed. The mural was painted across a rising dome and in its center was a large glass window, which allowed us to see one of the belts as it passed overhead.
"You must be Ryn. It's truly a pleasure. Vel'Morrel has talked fondly of you." I shuffle uncomfortably as the man who spoke before directed his full attention toward me. When I didn't answer, Ezic answered for me.
"Pleasure is all ours. Thank you for summoning us." Ezic said, casting me a glance before returning his attention to the council while I looked at everything but them. They were intimidating, to say the least.
"Now, why don't we get down to business. Ezic here has brought to our attention that you, Ryn, might possess some information regarding the experimentation?" I focus my attention on Morrel now. He gave me a reassuring smile before continuing. "Would you mind going into detail for us so that we might understand?"
I clear my throat uncomfortably. "Of course." I say, glancing at Morrel as he lifts one of his hands to press a couple of buttons on a device in front of him. A hologram appeared in the center of the table, casting the room in a bright blue hue. It took me a moment to familiarize myself with its image, but after a few seconds, I recognized it as the footage from the beginning of the experiments. Morrel cleared his throat, and I focused my attention back on the conversation.
"I'm sorry, it's been a long day." I had totally missed Morrel's question. But, in doing so, I could see the council look at each other disapprovingly.
"Could you please explain the situation that led to this moment?" Morrel inquired as he pressed play. The hologram sprung to life before us, giving us the sense that it was happening in real-time.
"I found some information on my father's work, experiments that he was doing." I breathed deeply and took a moment before I explained that the reason why I had been subjected to the experiments in the first place was because of what I had found.
"Please elaborate more on your father. What part did he play in all this?" I thought back to all the information I found in my research through everyone's thumb drives.
