When I arrived, the food court was in chaos

When I arrived, the food court was in chaos. I considered going back the way I came, but everyone was waiting for me. I pinched the bridge of my nose in annoyance. This wouldn't be easy, especially when I had to lie to them.

In the center of the room, a group of Reptilians fought two Zorr. The rest of the test subjects watched manically from the sidelines. Not daring to stop the bloody scene. Although outnumbered, the Zorr males seemed to hold their own. Ra, who I immediately recognized, sat at a table near the fight. He looked bored but still kept a close eye on the fight. The Zorr Navigator sat next to him. He wasn't even paying attention to the fight. Instead, he was staring oddly at the humans sitting at the room's far end. The humans were undoubtedly trying to get as far away from the violence as possible. The Greys were seated next to them, providing enough distraction to keep their attention off the fight. I could smell their distress.

"What the hell is going on?!" I walk over to Ra. He casts me a tired glance before patting the seat beside him. Instead of sitting next to him, I sat across from him.

"What is going on?" I repeat, sliding myself into the seat attached to the table.

"Don't worry yourself. It is our way." Ra waved me off and continued watching the fight. He rested his head on his fist with his elbow propped up on the table. His hair was combed and neatly braided tightly to the sides of his head. This made his horns more prominent—

"Wha—!" I gape at him. Ra looked at me weirdly for a second before noticing that I was staring at the little nubs that used to be horns.

"They will grow back, nothing to worry over." I don't know what was more shocking, that I hadn't noticed his horns, the lack thereof earlier, or the thought that horns could suddenly sprout from my head. I shivered at the thought.

"Is that common among Zorr?" I ask, trying to keep my growing anxiety at bay.

"Some features are more dominant than others when it comes to Zorr. The tails, eyes, and ears are common but those with horns are rare to see." He stated plainly. I nod in understanding. There's not a big chance that I would grow any.

"Why are they...so...you know?" I don't want to be rude. I didn't know if it was too personal of a question, but I was curious. Ra tilted his head sharply at me. My body tensed at the possibility of angering one of these creatures.

You're one of them now, remember?

"The huh-mans removed them." I nod slowly. He looked pretty aggrieved by this and tried to disguise the look on his face before I could notice.

"Was it painful?"I asked before I could stop myself, mentally facepalming.

"Yes, it is like sawing off a limb. I feel through my horns as I do the rest of my body." That didn't sound very pleasant. I immediately began to relate to him. I understood where he was coming from. I focused back on the fight. No one seemed to be willing to stop it. I couldn't decide whether that was because people were too scared of having the parties turn on them or didn't care.
