"I think I'm going to be sick!" Emily blurted.
I winced and snapped my head down to stare at my hands nervously. I tried to ignore the pairs of eyes that bore into me.
Morrel had formally notified us that the investigation had been disbanded and that the Planetary Council declared a mistrial. The girls had been inconsolable when they found out, even more so when they found out it had been because of me.
"That's not all I'm afraid," Morrel said, "due to the mistrial, both Regusra and Nohorr have been pardoned of all associated accusations. As such they may return to their previous positions of leadership..."
"You're joking!" Georgia snarled, "What does that mean for us!?" I knew exactly what that would mean for us. With Ezic's and Morrel's titles revoked, we had no chance or protection.
"They have us right where they want us," I mutter.
"Ryn." Ezic hissed hushedly. I glanced up and met his pleading eyes. I shook my head at him. It was time that we came clean about everything we knew. I stood up from where I was seated on the couch and met Georgia's eyes.
"We haven't been honest. With any of you." I address the girls somberly. "There's a lot that you don't know–a lot that you should know." I take a deep breath and glance over at Ezic, whose face is void of all emotion. Though with his clear reluctance, he didn't go to stop me when I continued.
"As I'm sure you all know, my father led the experiments. But do you know why those experiments existed?" I asked. The girls glanced at each other in confusion. "Nearly a decade ago half of the Zorr population was killed by a plague. It killed mostly women and children." I watched as Ezic's eyes darkened and his body tensed. I felt my heart cry out for him all over again at what he had endured and all that he lost to the plague.
"In an attempt to maintain superiority over the hybrid populace, the Zorr governing bodies banded together and created the experiments. Their sole mission, is to create the perfect hosts to harbor and breed the new generation of Zorr–"
"Are you saying that we–are nothing but incubators?" Georgia asks, staring at me widely. I nod slowly and I watch as the girls shrink back in horror. "Who? Who would do such a thing to us?" My eyes widened at her question and I realized that the next bit of information I would share with them would be something I had never said out loud before.
"Ra."
"What!?" Ezic snarled in surprise. His eyes held a crazy glint in them and for a moment, I was scared that it was directed toward me "What do you speak of Ryn?" Ezic demanded viciously. I glanced nervously at Elik and he stared at me in surprise. Clearly, even he had not known.
"Ra was the one who created us." I stated. "Ra partnered with The Planetary Council and together they worked with my father." Ezic stared down at me in disbelief.
"Think about it Ezic. Were you the only one who lost something all those years ago?" Ezic looked taken back for a moment before realization dawned on him.
