"I'm fine

"I'm fine." Ezic said, standing up from the medical bed and trying to put on the tattered and bloodied clothes. I crossed my arms and frowned at him, watching as he struggled to put his shirt over his head. Then, I walked over to him with a huff, swatted his hands away from the shirt, and slipped it down over his head and shoulders myself.

"You're and idiot." I stated, but Ezic only smiled at my comment briefly before he finished dressing.

"I know." He said mirthfully, seemingly unbothered by the attempt on his life only days before. Zolar, who had prevented himself from being captured by killing Narv, had returned to the belt to take back his position as The Krispar Divisions Commander-In-Chief and free Nohorr and Ra. However, he never got the chance as I had mistakenly intervened in his plans. What didn't make sense was how Zolar got into the building in the first place. His credentials had been suspended because he was a wanted suspect in the investigation. So that meant someone had to let him in, and I had suspicions about who.

Ra had been the first suspect and was taken in for questioning by the city's police force. The law enforcement of Scintilite City worked separately from The Krispar Division and The Planetary Council as a middle-ground agency and helped keep the populace in check. There were similar arrangements in all the cities that The Krispar Division controlled.

"I thought you were dead." I muttered, unimpressed. Ezic only looked down at me with another one of his cheeky smiles, which irritated me even more. "Are you not bothered at all?" I ask in disbelief. Ezic steps towards me and gently cups my head in his hands, studying the gashes on my face. He frowned slightly before flickering his eyes to mine.

"Of course I care." Ezic said, lightly running one of his fingers over the still-healing wounds on my face. Silence consumed us, leaving us both to study one another. I glanced down at the clothes he was wearing and at the numerous seared holes etched into them. Couldn't he have picked other clothing to put back on?

Fingers tickled at my chin, and I raised my head to meet Ezic's stare. His eyes gleamed with mischief as he lowered his head and kissed me deeply. Butterflies filled my stomach, but he pulled back slightly to read my reaction before I could respond.

"What was that for?" I breathlessly ask while staring widely up at him. I could feel my cheeks flush as he stared down at me heatedly.

"This?" He asked before slowly leaning in again, capturing my lips with his. Sparks traveled through my body as our lips pressed against each other softly, teasing. "Is for saving my life." Ezic whispered against my lips before deepening the kiss and pulling me closer to him. I smiled into the kiss before raising my arms and wrapping them around his neck, allowing my hands to entwine with his hair playfully. But, unfortunately, the moment was killed when an intrusive thought plagued my mind. I didn't know Ezic. I pulled back from the kiss abruptly and looked up at him widely.

"I dont know you." I say, uneasiness making its way into my voice. I pulled myself away from him slightly, allowing my arms to fall from his neck and fist awkwardly between us. "I–I don't know much about you, yet you know nearly everything about me.."
