We stood like that for a long time, only the two of us embraced in each other's arms. I was releasing myself from all the burdens I'd been carrying. When I finished, my head buzzed with a slight headache, and my body was heavy from exhaustion. I was the first one to speak.

"I broke my phone." I say out of the blue. I felt his chest vibrate with laughter.

"I'll get you another." He said, chuckling mirthfully. I shook my head and raised my eyes to meet his.

"I threw it, and it shattered." His eyes widened in horror as he emitted a small howl of laughter. I narrow my gaze, unamused. "Why are you laughing?" I asked tiredly. I slowly withdrew from his embrace and rubbed at my pounding temples.

"That was so random. I was not prepared." A small smile spread across my face. He was right. I went from a crying mess to being worried about something so trivial.

"Sorry about the door–!" Ezic hands gripped my hands and pulled me back against him. I let him hold me, finding comfort in his cresses and the feel of his body against mine.

"Stop apologizing for things that can be fixed." He breathed out huskily. I looked up at him for a brief moment before sighing and laying my head against his shoulder.

"What do we do now? What's going to happen..." I pause as he draws back to look down at me. I caught the heated look that flashed across his face. He shook his head before dropping his grip on my wrists and cupping my face. My eyes grew wide as I saw his gaze flicker to my lips. Then, before I could say a word, he bent down and pressed his lips against mine.

I froze, my body stiffening in response. Ezic didn't seem to mind my stiffness as he deepened the kiss, causing my body to erupt into pleasant shivers. As his lips moved over mine, I relaxed and melted into him. When I thought he was about to pull back, I responded, deepening the kiss. He brushed the tips of my teeth over my bottom lip and pulled it into his mouth, sucking on it before releasing it.

I felt his hands leave my face and make their way to intertwine with my hair, pulling my head back and exposing my neck. He left a sweet trail of kisses that started behind my ear and traced the innermost part of my neck. Heat fluttered in my core as Ezic made his way to my collarbone, nipping at the flesh before finally pulling away, panting. Our gazes met, his ruby red eyes molten with unsated need.

"That is not—that is definitely not what I meant." I say shyly. Realization dawned in his eyes before a brief glimpse of horror spread across his features. "But it was a pleasant surprise." A horrified laugh escaped Ezic's lips at my words. He looked away from me toward the desk he had previously been seated at.

"You were asking about the investigation?" He inquired, refusing to look at me as he tried to steady his breathing.

"I–I don't know if Narv...If his death will affect the investigation at all." I say awkwardly, stepping beyond Ezic's reach and walking over to the desk he was currently focusing all his intent on. I turned as I felt Ezics eyes bore into me. I met his eyes and saw a vulnerable look about him.
