"You knew, yet you never mentioned it to the Planetary Council. Why?"
"I wanted the bastards locked up." Elik sighed before continuing. "I knew, but I kept the information from being found. At least up until the Planetary council confiscated all the data."
"They took it all!?" I asked. Elik nodded his head. Great.
"Nothing is left from the investigation that was conducted." Elik states.
"Why are you here?" I ask dryly. Elik shrugs his shoulders and looks at me sadly.
"The Headquarters was disbanded." He replied. I stared at him wildly.
"You lost your job?" It dawned on me then. Elik must have been demoted and the division disbanded upon discovering he had withheld information. "I'm sorry."
"Dont be, my people knew what we were getting ourselves into, we believed it to be for the greater good." It seemed that both Nohorr and Ra had quite a reputation for how Elik spoke. It almost surprised me. To think that The Krispar division was run solely to protect the rights of hybrids and other non-Zorr inhabitants, yet they did the opposite and did nothing but oppress them.
"Why did you do it?"
"I knew that they were going to rule in favor of Nohorr and Regusra. The Zorr population is dwindling. They will do whatever it takes, even if it means they must take–or make hybrid females to save themselves."
"Whats going to happen now?" I whisper. Elik stared down at me with sad eyes.
"I don't know."
A commotion outside the door of our cell made both Elik, and I jump. Voices bickered incoherently on the other side and in the next second, the door was thrown open. Elik jumped up and stood before me, seemingly trying to guard me. Once he saw who it was, though, he stood down and stepped aside. Morrel stood at the cell's entrance, dressed in his purple robes and with an unreadable expression. His eyes ran over Elik before snapping over to me. I saw his eyes widen slightly but he quickly composed himself.
"Come! We must hurry." Morrel whispered hushedly to us. He entered the cell and bent in front of me. Before I could attempt to even stand he quickly lifted me bridal style. I went to protest but Morrel narrowed his eyes at me in a silent warning, daring me to complain. I shut my mouth and let him carry me from the cell, with Elik on our heels.
I quickly recognized where we were as we walked through the winding hallways and the massive lobby. We were at the Scintillate Cities Police Headquarters. Instead of soldiers dressed in black uniforms, they wore purple uniforms. This must signify The Planetary Council's takeover of the Scentilite Cities Headquarters.
I turn in Morrel's arms and look back at Elik, whose eyes were narrowly pealed to the floor as if he was studying it intently. Feeling my eyes on him, Elik glanced up briefly. I pretended not to notice the hint of sadness in his eyes as I turned back around.
