Chapter 8

Arthur's Pov

Me and Elise keeps talking about how she milk the cow for the first time when she was 10 year old, such a young age to start being a farmer.

Her life was pretty simple but peaceful, If i were given a chance to be born one more time, I would choose to live with elise. Growing up with her as a farmer.

"So tell me, do you have any siblings?" Elise said while drinking the warm milk, I looked at her. She look so beautiful as always. How i wish to look at her forever.

"I have a younger brother named Louis, I will describe him for you" i said and sit properly, and began to explain.

"He is annoying, very loud person and he is 4 years younger than me. Well he may be annoying in my eyes but the last time I saw him he called me brother" I said while looking at Elise.

She nodded, listening to me "you both are not in a good relationship together since you were a kid?" She asks me. I nodded my head.

She sighs and releases a smile, looking at me "but atleast he called you brother for the last time you saw him" . "Yes, he is the only one who knew that I ran away from home and not missing, I can go back if i want but I dont want to."

She nodded and held my hand softly "why can't you go back home?". I tried replying her but she cutted me off "I don't want to send you off from here, I just want to know why you wont go back home."

I looked into her brown eyes, holding her hand back and answered "I can't leave you alone". She looked at me and shakes her head "but i'm not alone, mom is with me."

"But still, elise I don't want to leave you. If i did it's like i'm leaving my life. You are the only one who cared for me and made me laugh, smile" I said, without noticing the love in my eyes as I said that to Elise.

Elise looked into my eyes and replied "but you still need to go home i-" I cutted her off as I replied with a little anger in it "I said I wont leave you and that is final".

She seemed disappointed of my answer "They are your family, arthur". I looked into her eyes "Family is loving, caring and beautiful, peace. From now on You are my only Family" I said while holding her hand.

She shake her head, her eyes showing disappointed "Give them another chance to prove how much they love you." She said.

I looked at her, rejecting it and keeps holding her hand, not wanting to let go. She is the only one who cared for me and I'm never going to leave her.

"No, I wont do that. You are my life now, Elise and that is final" I looked into her eyes.

She slowly stood up, letting go of my hand and walked away, without words. "Elise, where are you going?" I said while watching her walking away from the house.

I clenched my fist and look away, feeling anger. She couldn't understand how much she mean to me, she is my life, my everything. Why can't she understand?

Elise's Pov

I walked away, tears in my eyes and I quickly wipe them off. I can't believe he would say anything like that to his family and then act like nothing happened.

"What's wrong there child, why are you crying?" Mother said from behind and softly pats my back, I turned around and hugged her tightly. I am so glad I loved my mother, then Arthur hating his family cuz they dont care about him.

"Nothing wrong, mother just getting emotional. I just love you so much" I said while hugging her. Mother pats my back and smiles against my back "oh, child you're so ugly when you cry. Go and wash your face, here let me help you" mother said while taking a small cloth and wipes my tears away.

Minutes passed, I held mother with her hand "i'll be the one to go and harvest fruits, mother" I said and mother replied "are you sure, dear? You know that forest is too deep, you might get lost"

I sighed and held her both hands "mother, you said to me like 5 years ago that if you get lost you look for the small river from the side and you'l-"

mother completed my sentence "and you'll find the way back home, you still remember. Oh how intelligent my daughter is" mother said while cupping my both cheeks.

I chuckled, and nodding my head "Im intelligent because you are my mother" after I said that, mom seemed to lose her smile then quickly smiled.

"Good girl, now go and harvest some fruits before it gets dark here." I nodded and grabbed the basket "Yes, mother. I'll be right back!" I said and walk inside the forest.

Humming a tune as I keep walking deeper into the forest, harvesting apple and oranges and putting it in the basket.

I never seen the strawberry tree but i'll try to go deeper to find it. Now i understand how mom felt looking for strawberry trees for me to eat it. Too hard to find it.

I keep looking around, then suddenly I heard a footstep sound. I turned around to find a Man, who looked like a farmer. "Who are you?" I asks.

"Sorry for scaring you, I live around here the forest." The man said. I furrow my brow, I never heard someone living here and besides this Island is small but not too small.

"It's okay, My name is Elise and I also live here but on the middle side of the Island" I said. Then the man nodded "Elise, what a beautiful name for a beautiful lady. My name is Leo" he reach out his hand.

"Leo, nice to meet you" I shake his hand and give him a smile. "My mother always go around this forest but he never mention me someone living here"

Leo seemed to be scared, why is he scared? "Oh, well maybe she hasn't got to look around this big Island" Leo said and I furrow my brows. "I've never been out of this Island since I was born." I said.

He looked at me for a while "well, that's too sad." Leo said. I looked at him and asks "why?" . "Cuz you never seen the beauty of this world, but a half of your life is good because you also never seen the true world"

I looked at him, confused of the world out there "Is there also an Island out there?" I asks and Leo nodded his head "Yes, a lot. If you dont believe me then you have to cuz I've been to many places. Exploring around the world"

I chuckled slightly, nodding my head "I already believe you, Leo oh and in this part of our conversation I consider you as my friend now" I said while smiling, Leo looks a little surprised.

"You won't be asking me for more questions of myself?" He asks. I nodded my head "It's fine, we can get to know each other but I have to go harvest some strawberries" I said while turning around to leave.

But Leo stopped me by saying "oh, strawberries. I think I saw them on the right side corner, come i'll lead you there" i nodded my head and followed him.

Hours passed I didn't realize as I keep talking with Leo, he's a good company to be with. I walked with him while holding the basket full of fruits in it.

I suddenly realized, looking at Leo and said "oh, gosh i think its been hours in a half. I should get back home." Leo nodded "I understand, we'll see you later if I could miss elise." He said while bowing, oh what a gentleman.

I smiled at him and looks for the small river, following it as I got back home with a smile on my face.
