- Chapter 37 -

Izuku Pov

It was as if his throat completely closed up, his voice barely audible as you flew away unable to hear him callout to you.

Izuku's brain ricocheted through the corners of his brain in an attempt to find the reason why he would call you that.

Dove...

Such a random and strange name, and out of everything he could have you called Izuku said "Dove." He has never said that word, yet it felt so natural, as if he had called you "Dove" thousands of times. It flowed off his lips just as smoothly as saying his own mother's name, or even "Kacchan's". Dove simply felt like the right thing to say at that moment, even if it was anything but.

The look you gave Izuku right afterwards, as if all you wanted to do was rip his heart out where he sat. Or perhaps it was Izuku that ripped your heart out with that uncalled for nickname. He witnessed all your barriers shatter at the mention of the word, your eyes reflecting shock and anguish and reminisce all at once, almost as if you heard that nickname before? But why?

And from who?

"So, you have nicknames for each other now? Your guy's dynamic is so confusing." All Might wavers, sipping his tea. Izuku frantically shakes his head and hands, a bead of sweat streaming down his forehead from the misunderstanding.

"N-NO NO! It's not not like that at all! I..." Izuku couldn't explain why he called you by such an alien name. He was searching through the deepest ends of his memory to remember anything, if he called you Dove before.

But nothing came up, his mind completely blank. This frustrated Izuku, he had so many accumulating questions about you and Angelic and One for All. No one was answering any of his questions, he was hoping you could be his escape, his middle ground.

It seemed like it wasn't going to be that way, at least not now. This doesn't mean that Izuku is going to give up on you and your friendship, since no matter how much you pushed him away  Izuku felt this fire that told him to keep on trying, keep on pushing back, to let him help you.

So he will, All Might did upvote his spectacular intuition on character. And he saw something beautiful in you, heard a piano of his own coming from you, this harmony that made you a magnet for Izuku.

His magnet.

"It's just complicated. I have so many questions, I just need to talk to her about it, about everything." Izuku sighs, staring at his reflection in his tea. He was determined, far from giving up.

Y/N... A phenomenon all on her own, just as mysterious and special as the power given to me. She's headstrong and powerful and extremely caring of her friends, whether she admits it or not.

She can be vulnerable, no matter how much she hates it, and she can be a role model all in one, she has a big heart that I know for fact has the potential to be a hero. She wants to save people, help everyone she can no matter how insignificant.

Your POV

You barged into your room with a messy crash landing as you slammed the door shut with a thud, then immediately played back what Izuku said to you.

"Dove."

He said it so easily, so effortlessly. As if he had said that to me hundreds of times before. He didn't stop himself or hitch his breath, Izuku said his nickname for me like he has been saying it for years.
