During the week before finals, you and Izuku were eating lunch in the cafeteria. Tenya as well as Uraraka wanted to talk with you more, as well as go over times when you can meet with them for training after school.

You were talking to Uraraka when you all heard something fall with a thud.

"O- oh no!" An unknown girl exclaimed, as she dropped her lunch tray. She was wheelchair bound, and it must've accidentally slipped while she was trying to find a table.

A couple of snickers were heard, while other students just stared. You, however, got up to go help her. You were the closest to her anyway, it was the least you could do.

"Here, let me help you clean this up." You say gently, bending down to pick up her tray.

"Oh, please you don't have to, I don't want to trouble you." The student stuttered, you could feel her embarrassment over the situation.

"It's alright. Really." You insisted. Picking up the spilt food with a napkin, you cleaned as much as you could and threw it all away. Returning your gaze towards the girl.

"Th-thank you. You really didn't need to clean after my mess." She said, smiling sheepishly.

"It's not a big deal, plus it would've taken you longer to clean up and less time to eat your lunch." You retort, a small smile on your features. You unintentionally look into her eyes, and get this strange feeling. It wasn't good, nor was it bad, but it sure was intense.

Her presence was intense. It didn't match her personality.

"W-what's your name?" You ask, curious of the student.

"Oh! Of course. My name is Katsumi Fujimori, first year. You?" Katsumi said energetically, no longer embarrassed over dropping her meal in front of everyone.

"Nice to meet you, Katsumi. I'm Y/N Kirigaya, also first year." When you stated who you were, her eyes widened with surprise and awe.

"No way, THE Y/N Kirigaya? You won the Sports Festival right?" Katsumi asked wide eyed.

"Hah, yes I did. Did you participate?" You ask her, not remembering seeing her with the rest of the first year students.

She shakes her head, beginning to play with the stands of her light pink hair. "N-no. Fighting isn't really my thing, I'm in the support course, so I'm more into the engineering and mechanics side of heroism."

You hum in understanding. "Were you cheering Mei Hatsumei in the crowd then?"

"Yes! I wasn't going to go, but she insisted I watch her and the gadgets she and I built for the festival. I just couldn't say no." Katsumi says, reminiscing on her energetic friend begging her to come.

Your eyes slightly widen. "Wait, you made those gadgets and stuff Mei used?"

Katsumi nods, flustered over your amazement. "Yeah, we spent days working on her hydrologic bracers and hover soles. Her jet pack was especially difficult to code, but it worked perfectly in the end, for the most part."

"Wow, you both are incredibly smart, and talented. I can't wait to see what you two come up with!" You say excitedly, Katsumi shyly meets your gaze.

"Me as well, I can't wait to see you grow and prosper as a hero yourself! We need more powerful women like you out in the frontlines!" Katsumi states.

"T-thank you, I'll try my best." You respond, out reaching your hand for a high-five, which she reciprocates.

"It was nice meeting you, Y/N Kirigaya. And thanks again for helping."

You wave, turning around to sit back with your classmates. "It was nice meeting you too, Katsumi Fujimori. See you around."

You walk away, while she presses a button that controls her wheelchair's movement without her having to move the wheels on her own.

You weren't looking, nor were you paying attention to her emotions, but her smile's authenticity completely faded. As if she was faking her joy the entire time, the light in her once shy blue irises completely dimmed.

No one paid attention to the person in the wheelchair, especially in a hero school, but that never bothered Katsumi in the slightest. She preferred to be invisible anyway.

No one saw the split second when her mask slipped.

Where no matter how far you searched in Katsumi's eyes, you would have never been able to find a soul.

Soulless.

Heartless.

It was only a second, and just as it slipped...

...she clicked the mask back in place.

"Katsumi! Over here!" A friend of hers exclaimed, waving her hand.

"Coming!"
