3/3 OF THE MARATHON
"You can take this heart. Heal it or break it all apart. No, this isn't fair. Love me or leave me here"
"Love Me Or Leave Me" from the Album Just Me by Lauren Jauregui
WHISTLER STATION:
"Isn't it supposed to start snowing in two hours?" Ryan asked fighting the wind as they tried to make their way toward the station.
"What are you saying?" Jason shouted loudly.
"I thought it would start snowing in two hours," Ryan said. We shouldn't have gone that far.
"The useless instructor said there were two hours left" Jason tried to fight the strong wind that had blown through the remote part of the area where they were.
"Maybe if you hadn't interrupted him we would know what to do in situations like this," Ryan said furiously as he tried to watch where they were going.
"You said you knew," Jason accused him. "Don't you spend many months of the year here? You said you knew"
"But we never come to this part with Lauren, she doesn't like it," Ryan said trying to justify himself. They made their way through the snow fighting the strong wind and trying to walk as they sank.
He had to make an effort to get to the hotel and get to safety.
"We won't be able to drive home in weather like this," Ryan said. "The girls will have to be left alone until this is over. I hope I can talk to him when we get to the hotel. Lauren will be worried sick."
"I'm sure she doesn't even remember you at this point," Jason said coldly, and they kept walking, trying to get to the hotel. They had to make it or they would freeze to death.
---------
"I hope they're safe at the hotel," Lauren said worriedly as she watched Camila stir up the fire in the fireplace.
"I'm sure they're fine," said Camila. When they know it's going to snow, I understand that they close the station" Lauren looked at her in surprise.
"Have you ever been to Canada before?" Lauren asked as Camila sat back down and sipped her cup of coffee.
"I've actually traveled very little," Camila's voice was soft.
"I fell in love with the place when I came here for a concert a few months ago," Lauren said. "I really like nature and Ryan and I thought it would be a good idea."
"Ryan told me that he really enjoys the place." Lauren met her eyes. He says this place reminds him of what it's like to "feel like you can hold freedom in the palm of your hand and live it to the fullest."
Lauren smiled and nodded as she listened to that phrase that was so Ryan.
"Ryan has enjoyed being outdoors since he was little," she said, taking a sip of her coffee, which was perfect.
"Have you known each other since you were kids?" Camila said interested.
"We met in high school," Lauren smiled. "We were best friends."
"So your love has survived all these years," Camila said softly, listening to the crack of wood burning in the fireplace. "Now I understand that wonderful connection that exists between the two of you."
"Actually, the story is a little more complicated than that," Lauren whispered.
"I'm a good listener," Camila said, and at that moment there was a loud noise that spread throughout the house due to the strong wind. Camila jumped on the couch at the noise and Lauren was startled.
