2/3 OF THE MARATHON
"I didn't want to let go of his arms. He held me so close to him, that I felt our bodies merge into one. I wanted to remain hugged to him always, even though our love was forbidden." -Rachel

"Are things better with your wife?" Ryan asked as he adjusted all of his necessary ski gear.
"The truth is, Camila, is a very difficult woman." he took a deep breath and gave Ryan an annoyed look without him noticing. "I think you could already notice that I try to be close to her and be affectionate but she rejects me but believe me it won't be for long."
"Well..." Ryan said looking at him "you are not the most romantic man in the world."
"She knows I love her,"Jason said, "I don't have to follow her around like a lapdog to let her know I'm interested."
"I'm not saying follow her around, but you can treat her better," he stared at him. "You treat her very badly and she'll probably return your insults."
"She shouldn't give me anything back," Jason said seriously. "She is my wife and she must respect me because that is her place. That's what a woman should do, please her man and take care of him."
"Just because she's a woman doesn't mean you're going to treat her indifferently. Women have the same potential as a man, Jason" Ryan stared at him.
"You say that because your wife is a famous singer who is a millionaire and has you living like a king."
"Lauren earns her own money and it's for her" he stared at him. "I give her everything she deserves with my work. We both work together to live the way we live."
"But the fame and fortune it's brought you helps a lot," Jason said. "I'm sure your fame as a lawyer could be good but not as good as being the husband of Lauren Jauregui."
"I can't deny that Lauren's career has benefited my career in some ways. But all that matters to me is that she continues to love me and be there for me. I love her."
"And does she love you in the same way?" Jason asked, looking him in the eye and Ryan was taken aback by the question. "All women are unpredictable and with how beautiful your wife is, I'm sure there will be someone who wants to be with her."
"Lauren would never do anything like that to me," Ryan said, "I have complete confidence in her."
"You give her too many liberties, Green," Jason said. "Sometimes women need you to be rough with them," Jason smiled, "To show them who's boss in the relationship. But you're a softie who lets her dominate you. Now that women have the same "rights" as men they think they can live without you," Jason laughed.
"If Lauren ever leaves me she's capable of living on her own," Ryan whispered, feeling a lump in his throat as he imagined himself without Lauren. "She's an independent woman who has worked alone for her career. I admire her for that. And I don't think women should live tied to a man just because "that's the way it should be."
"But that's the way it should be," Jason said coldly. "Camila can never leave me. She's my woman and it's only over when I say it's over."
Ryan stared at his friend and then realized that Lauren was right. It wasn't Camila who was humiliating him. Ryan was facing a sexist who treated women as mere trash, and sadly his victim was Camila.
"Now I understand why your marriage isn't working," Ryan said very seriously.
"The only reason it's not working is because Camila's head doesn't work, but I'll fix it soon enough," by beating her he said in his mind as he laughed looking at Ryan. "Camila can't live without me and you should learn from me and make your wife obey you. Just imagine what she did today, refusing to come when you asked her to. If I had told Camila to come she would never have dared to say no to me."
