WHILE IN THE AMBULANCE:

"What do you think?" asked a man as he put adhesive plasters on Camila's cuts, who was still a little confused on the stretcher with a blank stare.

"I think she has a fracture in her right hand," said the woman as Lauren looked at Camila with concern. "And possibly a broken rib or two."

Lauren moaned softly catching the attention of the paramedics who were talking to each other while their totally worried eyes looked at Camila who seemed to be totally out of it. From the moment they saw her enter the ambulance she looked lost.

"Why is she like this?" Lauren whispered. "Before she went into the ambulance she was talking a little."

"We gave her a sedative for the shocks so that the movement of the ambulance wouldn't affect her," said the paramedic, watching Lauren for long minutes.

Lauren's hand slid across Camila's bruised cheek and the brown gaze shifted to her. Camila's eyes were transparent eyes full of truth.

Lauren could rarely meet people who had such sincerity in their gaze and could convey their true essence. Throughout her life Lauren had met all kinds of people. There was that person who could transmit tranquility and peace. That person who made you laugh at times when you thought you couldn't take it anymore. There were also people who simply showed you the world in a way you had never experienced it before.

Those people who are happy surrounded by nature, eating an ice cream, watching a movie hugging the person they love. People who smile just because they are alive. Lauren had met many interesting people who had shown her different approaches to life. Then there was that brown look. Camila's eyes.

Lauren leaned into Camila totally lost in her gaze seeing her with so much love as in her brown orbs she could describe her emotions. The pain she was feeling from the blows she had received, the fear and finally the recognition.

"Lauren" Camila whispered softly and Lauren saw her with tears and a small smile formed on her lips.

"Hello my love," Lauren said tenderly kissing the tip of her nose.

Camila tried to smile at her but slowly closed her eyes falling into a deep sleep. Lauren detailed her feeling deep pain as she saw all her wounds. There had been so many blows, Jason had dared to mistreat the woman she loved and as she had understood Camila, he knew about their relationship.

It was better that he know because that way Lauren wasn't going to hold back in defending the woman she loved. She was going to bring him down and he had better be prepared. Camila deserved to be happy and Lauren was ready to become that happiness.

Lauren leaned over Camila slowly kissing her cheek as the paramedic watched her intently. Her green eyes gave away her feelings and it was now impossible to hide them. Just the sight of Camila made her heart start pounding. She loved her and she was going to prove it to her without fear or lies.

"I love you," Lauren whispered in Camila's ear as she laid her head close to Camila's, waiting to get to the hospital. Camila was going to recover and she was going to start divorce proceedings. To live a happy life with the woman she loved. To finally seek that happiness her mother had always told her to seek.
