Y/n's POV:

Ava was holding my hand, dancing and singing as we made our way up to the apartment. When we opened the door, we were greeted by a stressed-out Sophie, pacing around the living room. "Finally, you're home!" Her voice full of anxiety. "Are we late?" I asked confused. "You're normally home by three thirty, it's now four thirty." She said pausing her pacing. "Sorry, I took Ava for a spin in the new car." I explained, a smile appearing on my face when I spoke about it.

She looked at me and she seemed to calm down a little bit. "Oh right. Sorry, I forgot that you were picking that up today. I can't wait to get my ride in it." She said, but I could tell she was still stressing out. "Ava, why don't you go and put your stuff away." I instructed. She did as she was told and ran off to her room. I made my way to stand directly in front of Sophie.

I placed my hands on her shoulders, forcing her to look at me. "Stop freaking out. This date is going to go perfectly." I reassure her. "You are beautiful, kind, funny and intelligent. He's going to have an amazing time with you. So just breath and talk me through what you need." I said, slowly directing her to the sofa to take a seat. "Help with my outfit. I don't know which dress." She said, pointing to the two dress bags hanging on my bedroom door.

I got up and took each dress from the bag and hung them up so I could get a good view. They were both beautiful and would look amazing on her. But I know she needs a definitive answer from me right now. "I think the blue dress. It'll bring out your eyes. It's sexy but not too revealing." I suggest and she stands up and joins me to look at the dresses. "You're right. Which I can't believe." She said and I pouted. "Hey! I'm not that bad with fashion." I defend and she just laughs. "I mean you're not bad but it's very basic." She teases. "That's fair. I'm too used to wearing a uniform to care sometimes." I respond before making my way to the kitchen.

Grabbing some pans, I start to make dinner for Ava and I. "What time is he picking you up?" I asked. "6. Gives us enough time for you guys to meet and then make our reservation at 7." She explained. "You really like him, don't you?" I question as she comes over to see what I'm cooking. "Why do you say that?" She asked, sitting at the kitchen island. "You never let me meet anyone until you know it's more serious. Yeah, you'll tell me all about them, but I don't see them until you think it's going to go somewhere." I explain my thought process and she nods.

"Ava is pretty much always with you. I didn't want to be bringing men over to meet you for them to end up not being apart of my life. But with Matt, he's really kind and I get really excited when I see that he comes into the café. It's like my heart rate picks up and I get butterflies." All I do is smile at her as she rambles on about why Matt is such a nice guy. I've not seen her this happy talking about someone since when she dated her ex James.

I carried on cooking whilst she was telling me about his job and a case he was currently working on. I looked up and saw that it was already 5 and I knew she still needed to get ready. "As much as I'm loving seeing and hearing you so happy. I think you should get ready. Help yourself to anything in the bathroom. Shout if you need anything." I said. She looked at the clock and quickly jumped out of her seat and grabbed the dress from the door before disappearing into my bedroom.

It wasn't long until I had finished dinner and called Ava over to join me. It took a couple of calls as she was distracted by the TV but eventually, I was able to pry her away. The two of us sat enjoying our dinner, laughing when we could here Sophie panic over the time, or she would rush out into the living room to ask us our opinion. "Is this what I'm like?" I asked Ava and she nodded, shoving a forkful of food in her mouth. "Wow, I need to learn to chill." I mumble to myself.

Almost bang on 6 there is a knock at the door. "He's prompt, I like him already!" I shout to Sophie who's still in my bedroom. "I'm coming." I heard as there was as shuffle and she rushed out to the living room. "Wow. You look amazing!" I said and she blushed. "You look pretty Auntie Sophie." Ava added. There was another knock and Sophie took a deep breath before making her way to the door.
