Chapter 62 - Going Public

Scarlett's POV:

I was backstage at Jimmy Fallon in the dressing room. Y/n and I had a talk with Ava yesterday explaining what we were doing today and how that might change her life slightly. She was a bit worried at first about people trying to take pictures of her again, but I promised that I would protect her from that and make sure they were respectful. Other than that, she was happy that we were going to tell people. She even mentioned that she was happy that the three of us could be a family in public now, which completely melted my heart.

But now, here I am, pacing whilst starting to panic slightly about what I'm about to do. Y/n had just stepped outside to grab us some water and my mind started to spiral of all the what ifs. Seeing the change in my demeanour, Dina, my manager, was currently trying to help calm me down. Was I doing the right thing? My team seemed to think it was, and I know I don't want to hide Y/n. But what if the reaction is really bad? I don't want Y/n to come under attack.

Whilst all of these questions are shooting around my mind, I'm distracted when I hear the door to the dressing room open. I see Y/n enter with her crooked smiled, looking incredible in the tailored suit she was wearing for tonight. Instantly my mind calmed just seeing her. "What's wrong angel?" She asked, placing the bottles down on the table and rushing over to me. She pulled me towards her, and I sunk into her safe arms.

I didn't answer as she gently rubbed her hand up and down my back. "You know you don't have to do this if you're not comfortable Scar. You won't hurt me if you say you need more time." She said calmly. She is always thinking of me. I looked up at her, even with my heels on she was still slightly taller than me. A smile is creeping on my face as we hold eye contact and I place a kiss on her lips, careful not to smudge my lipstick. "I'm perfect now." I responded and cuddled back into her.

"Are you sure? This is a big step for you. Things will change after tonight." The more she spoke, the more she was supporting the fact that I want to tell the world about her. "I know. But I'm ready. I was freaking out, but not anymore. I want to do this." I told her confidently. She squeezed me tightly before releasing me. "Ok. I'll be here supporting you the whole way." She said with a warm smile, and it took everything in me to not pull her into a passionate kiss.

She moved back towards the table and picked up a bottle of water. Walking back towards me she unscrewed the top and passed it over to me. As I was taking small sips, I hear Dina laugh a little, grabbing our attention. "How did you do that? I've never known anyone to calm her down so quickly by just being here!" She said with a smirk. I quickly leaned over to slap her arm, but she was able to dodge it.

Y/n's face had flushed at the comment, and she just shrugged. "She doesn't have to do anything. Just being here is what helps." I say, wanting Y/n to know that she really is a huge support for me. "I'm glad you feel that. I'll always be by you side." She smiled and placed a kiss on my head. We were interrupted from our moment from a knock at the door.

It was one of the staff to say they were ready for me. Y/n turned to me and gave me a big smile. "You'll smash it. I'll be right here waiting for you when you're done." She reassured and I let out a breath just knowing I can fall in her arms when this is over. "Thank you." I reply and lean up to give her a quick peck. Dina took Y/n backstage to a place they could watch the interview and instantly I started to feel nervous again. But instead of letting what if's plague my mind, I was just picturing Y/n and how happy she makes me. Screw the world if they have a problem with that.

The interview got off to a good start. I was promoting Jungle Book before the premiere this weekend. He played a clip of the trailer and we talked about what it was like filming and how there were so many big names in the movie. As we reached the commercial break, I knew the questions that were about to follow. Before the interview had started, I had chatted with Jimmy about what we could talk about and he was really happy that I was ready to share my relationship, so I knew that once those questions started, he would be really respectful.
