Scarlett's POV:
I couldn't take my eyes off of Y/n as we ate. She was wearing a beautiful green summer dress and enthusiastically telling me a story about Ava. Her eyes light up when she's talking about her and it's like her love just pours out of her. Even someone who doesn't know her would be able to tell she adores her the way she speaks. "What?" I'm pulled from my trance by Y/n call to me. "What? What?" I responded, confused.
"The way you're looking at me." She said and I couldn't help my smile. "I could just listen to you talk about Ava all day. You light up and it reminds me how lucky Ava is to have someone who loves her like you do. No wonder she's a special kid." I told her honestly. She obviously wasn't expecting it as her cheeks turned red and her gaze dropped slightly. "She makes it easy. Though I'm not liking that she's slowly losing her English accent." She joked. "She called trousers 'pants' the other day and I almost had to disown her." I laughed at her comment.
"What's wrong with pants?" I asked and she chuckled. "In England, pants are underwear. So, when we're back in England, I would hate for her to start talking about pants in the wrong context!" She laughed. Her words caught me off guard and my mood dropped. Is she planning on moving back to England? When would she move? Does she not see us as going anywhere?
Whilst I'm spiralling in my thoughts, my attention is brough back to the beautiful woman in front of me when she places her hand on mine. "Hey, what's wrong? You look upset." She asked concerned. "It's nothing." I said, trying to move the conversation on but she had other ideas. "No. Don't do that. You can talk to me. I want to know when something upsets you. Was it something I did or said?" She said firmly.
I took a breath before deciding what to say. "I guess we've never really talked about what you'll do when your posting is up. I got lost in thought about you moving back to England." I told her truthfully, not wanting to lie to her. I was surprised when she had a wide smile on her face. "You're right. I guess it's never really come up. I have two years left on my posting. But there is an opportunity to transition into a civilian role within the same team if I want to." She explained and it calmed my nerves slightly. "Is that something you would want. To leave the Military and stay where you are?" I question her.
She nods. "I've been considering leaving the Army since I got hurt. However, if I were to leave the Army now, I'd have to move back to England. Which I don't want to do because I came out here to start a new life with Ava to give her everything she deserved. So, yes. It's certainly something I want to do at the moment, I just need to get the timings right." Hearing her say that made me visibly sigh in relief and she chuckled. "Getting attached already?" She teased. "Yes, I am." I responded without hesitation. "Good, me too." She smiled and gave my hand a squeeze.
Once we had finished dinner, we made our way over to the theatre. Y/n was really excited, and it was so cute. She had a bounce in her step as we walked from the car to the front doors. Thankfully there weren't any paparazzi around so we could get into the theatre without any hassle. We were guided to our seats by an usher, and I watched as Y/n looked around in awe. "These seats are incredible! Thanks Scar." She beamed and I couldn't help but smile.
All I wanted to do was lean in and kiss her, but there were a lot of people here, so I had to contain myself. I took in the stage and saw the dragon towering over the top of it, whilst Y/n was flicking through the show's programme. "What's you're favourite song?" I asked whilst we waited for the show to start. She thought for a moment. "In terms of just pure amazing quality, Defying Gravity. But I think my favourite is For Good. I love the meaning behind it. Two people from completely different worlds end up having a profound effect on each other. It's a great song too." She explains enthusiastically. She could have been explaining us and it made me smile. "Well, I'm excited to see how this lives up to the hype." I said and she turned to look at me with a frown. "If you don't like this, I'm not sure we can remain friends." She said completely seriously.
