"Are you coming?" my coworker and boyfriend, detective Jared Vasquez, asks me, while I sit at my desk. "I'm almost ready, but you can go. I'll see you at home" I reply, so he nods his head and gives me a quick kiss. "Vasquez, Garcia, hold up!" our boss says, walking up to us.

"You two can take tomorrow and the day after off, your shifts were covered. Enjoy your off-days" he tells, and he walks away again. "That's great! I can go to Shanna anyway!" I happily add, looking at Jared.

"Oh yeah, it's her birthday tomorrow right?" he asks, leaning against my desk. "Yes, and she asked me to come to her birthday barbecue, but I couldn't make it because if work" I reply, so he nods his head.

"Well, maybe you should ask her if you can still come then" he chuckles, making me laugh. "Yeah, I will. Let's go home now, okay?" I ask, and he agrees so we grab our things and get to the car. While Jared drives us to our shared home, I grab my phone from my pocket and start texting Shanna.
