Runes are small sigils or symbols you can use to help with spell casting. They're often inscribed onto candles or written onto paper. There are different ways to make them, of course, but here's how I do it.

You want to decide on a key word. Whatever letter that word begins with, draw a small circle in the middle of it, then draw straight lines to the other letters of the word. At the last letter, you want to make a cross line. For example:

These are the runes for 'Jack' and 'eyeless'.

After you make your rune, you can then draw it onto paper to help with a spell, or use a toothpick to write it into a candle. Always be careful of course, you don't want to hurt yourself. Also, runes aren't required when doing spells, they just help with them (and you can use runes like "sleep" or "protection" and stuff like that of course).
