Chapter 1: The Amazon

(The largest rainforest on Earth, located in South-America)

My hair is tight with knots like every girl is sometimes familiar with, which is an everday problem for me. It happens everytime I wake up, but luckily no one will see this mess coming out of bed other than myself.

It doesn't mean I look like a mess right now, because I already dressed myself to make sure I'm ready for the day, but only now my hair still needs to work, while I comb my short brown hair softly.

I'm actually thinking about putting my hair in a bun today, because the temperature is always different here in the Amazon. Not that I'm complaining to say the least, because I lived here all my life so I'm kind of used to it now.

And with a bun in my hair, I think it perfectly matches the clothes I'm wearing today. It's actually a long thin white dress with a black belt around it, which is my favourite to be honest. It's not only easier to work with, but it's also pretty if you ask me.

But sometimes I prefer wearing trousers like the men do, and some women ofcourse. It fits you comfortable, and it also feels nice whenever I'm working. Luckily everyone here is free to choose whatever they want to wear.

But, there's actually another reason why I like to wear this dress that I haven't told yet. I find it not only a pretty dress, but I have seen on his face it's starting to become his favourite; he can't hide this anymore for a fact, and it's making me blush thinking about it to be honest.

So by that means, I'm also wearing this to get the attention of the Eternal.

Druig.

A sometimes quiet, yet observering and intimidating man who roams our village as our leader, because he has been here the longest; he even started this community I'm living in now, and everyone, from the middle-aged men and women, to the elderly ones and the children, know him by name.

But, his leadership is a little different than you might think. He might be controlling sometimes, intrusive, but the Eternal let's us do our job like we normally do, instead of totally taking over control like he used to do.

It's the only way for us to be happy, and to live our life to the fullest. It's what he deep down inside wants for us, even if he doesn't show it alot of times.

Druig is kind to my people, but as I described him, he can sometimes be a jerk if you're not nice to him. Then he wants to take control over the situation; to learn us a lesson on how to behave, but most of the times it ends up in good terms.

Me and Druig, we have been friends for a while. He's the only person I feel comfortable with, even if you might think he's intimidating, and not wanting to let someone in that quickly. Somehow, he did it with me, and luckily he's never been a jerk to me before.

But to be honest, I think it took me a while to finally be accepted by him. It wasn't my doing in the first place, because he somehow reached out to me, which felt like completely new for me, and maybe even likewise.

Druig can be difficult to describe. He always has these intrusive looks like you don't want to mess with him right now, but somewhere deep down inside, he's a good and loving person when you meet him.

Whenever we hang out as friends after a working day, he sometimes likes to play with me, and make up jokes. But to be honest, because of this behavior the last few weeks, I'll have to admit I kind of started to fall for him.

In a love kind of way, even tho we are still friends.

A thought that doesn't want to escape my mind, and something I feel like I am stuck too, with the only way out is to tell him the truth, even tho I'm scared to death to even admit it.
