Im not sure what the point in convincing them to give me a day to think about signing the contract when I knew I'd be signing anyways. That hospital was all I had right now and i wouldn't let a small inconvenience with men who thinks their superior to me take it away.

I still haven't signed the contract but my eyes were on it the entire time I changed into my scrubs. That huge stack of papers just sitting there waiting for my signature. "So are you going to sign it?" Beverly getting dressed as well in the bathroom. I had told her everything as soon as they left and she was more shocked then I.

"I fucking have to, Quel pezzo di merda." I whispered underneath my breath before sitting on the edge of my bed and pulling the papers into my lap with a pen spinning in my hand. Fuck.

Francesca Vincent Romano.

Every dotted line signed in my hand writing before throwing it back onto the night stand. I tied my hair up into a tight pony tail like I would and kissed Beverly good bye on the cheek. I took the papers and went to go find my mom down stairs which she was in the kitchen.

I slammed the papers on the counter grabbing her attention quickly. "So why the fuck would you end up in jail ma?" She took a deep breath before turning to face me. "Oh mio Dio, Francesca Please." Just like when I got stressed she turned to speaking in Italian as if I wouldn't understand. "I wasn't expecting an answer anyways. The papers are signed."

She looked through each page making sure everything was signed. "Go to the hospital with it. They'll pick it up there." I shook my head. "I don't want them there, ma." She put my face in her hand and made a fake pouting face. "Povero bambino, you have no choice." I rolled my eyes expecting her to be some what kind but instead her sarcasm was received.

I grabbed the contract and my car keys before leaving the kitchen and bumping into Giovanni. "You still going to the carnival tonight?" He was heading down the stairs and I hesitated. "What's tonight?" I asked unlocking the front door. "Favorite actress." I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know Vanni, but I won't miss tomorrow." He nodded and allowed me to leave without another word.

I sat in my office with the beautiful and colorful view of Italy looking back at me. Home. This was my home and it's like it's breaking away around me. The paper work I had to do was set a side and I was just listening to soft music. I sighed closing the curtains.

Pushed aside the paper work and moved my laptop, climbing the black table and sitting in the center with my legs crossed underneath me. The contract as in my lap and I read every word over and over again. The contract was between me and Reid only, and I'd have to sign every three years.

The cold white paper rippled in my hands as I jumped from a knock at the door. "Who is it?" I mumbled and a soft voice was returned back. "I'm here for Francesca Romano, she's under arrest." I laughed removing my hair from the ponytail. "Come in Thiago."

The door swung open and a tall guy stood before me holding baby breath flowers. He closed the door and came in sitting in one of the chairs in front of me. He handed over the flowers and I bent down kissing his forehead.

"Haven't heard from you since the promotion how's the job, bro." I smelled the flowers and a smile rose. "I didn't know being chief of police had so much paperwork." He shook his head and I laughed fidgeting with the flowers. "Are you okay?" His expression changed so fast with concern. But I kept my smile. "I didn't know being chief of the hospital had so much paperwork."

I wasn't lying but I wasn't telling the truth. I knew this man for so long he was like a second brother. "I see you got your first tattoo." I pointed at the ink that saturated his dark complexion. "Hell yeah yours looked sick."

All the small tattoos that covered random parts of my body were my baby's but the Medusa Piece that covered my back was my favorite, it was a part of my younger self. My pager started flashing instead of beeping which caught our attention quickly. I leaned over to grab it and we read what it said. "Sketchy. Stay alarmed."

We gave each other a look before quickly heading out the door. We walked out of my office and saw everyone on alert. We decided to take the stairs to get to the first floor faster but everything looked normal. I found Jocelyn and pulled her aside. "What happened." I showed her the pager. "Haven't seen for myself but you have a special patient."

I looked back at Thiago and he decided to stay until we were in all clear. Jocelyn had her head buried in a patient's chart as she brought us to the waiting room, where a young boy, about seven years old ran up to me wrapping his small arms around my waist. He looked up at me with the saddest face ever. "Will you save me for my mama?"

His mother ran after him pulling him off me and my heart broke not knowing the situation. "I'm so sorry doctor he's just really been waiting for this appointment."

I kneeled down to the little boys level. "What's your name?" I forced a smile. "Micky." He was trying to get out of his moms hold but she seemed uncomfortable. "Hi Micky I'm doctor Romano, but you call me Francesca okay." He nodded as I backed up and faced his mother.

She was so worried and looked unbelievably pale. "He has a brain tumor that everyone said was inoperable. But I heard your the best, so I made my way from Florida." My heart dropped. I hated working on kids because I know how attached I get but I felt such a connection to him.

I bent back down and looked up at the mom for permission to touch him and she granted. I picked him up and his legs immediately wrapped around my waist and his arms around my neck. "How old are you, Micky?"

"I'm six." His words were a bit slurred and he couldn't keep eye contact for long. "Well Micky, let's bring you to your seventh birthday healthy okay." His mom smiled almost wanting to cry. "Let's get you and your ma checked in."

We made our way out of the waiting room and my smile faded quickly as two men stood in front of me with what seemed like an army behind them.

"Hello boys."
