Chapter 46 | Be Safe

Francesca's pov

I woke up in a huge cold bed with Bear asleep on my stomach. Still very tired, I looked around and noticed I was back in King's room. I had fallen asleep mid movie last night. I pet Bear as I sat up and smiled at her. "Where's you dad huh?" I asked and she only licked my face. Yesterday was one of the best nights of my life. I felt like I just lived a new life, a better one. I got out of the bed and looked in the mirror and for the first time I didn't completely hate my curly hair. I pulled down the short dress as me and Bear walked down the hall to the other room. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth with the new toothbrush I was given.

I found my way downstairs with her and Andrea was cooking breakfast in the kitchen and it smelled amazing. "Are you a professional chef?" I asked, sitting down behind the counter. "I am. Following my mothers footsteps." She smiled. "Well it smells amazing. Did King leave?" I asked her as I looked around. "No, he and Enzo are downstairs. I'm heading there if you'd like to come." I looked at her confused. "There's a downstairs to this place?" I asked. "Yes, come." She laughed, turning off the stove and led me and Bear to a secret door behind a bookshelf in the living room. "I trust you can keep secrets?" She asked and I nodded.

We followed her down to a dark and cold basement. The walls are lined with knives and guns. "Breakfast will be ready for twenty boys." King stood in front of a table covered in papers and bullets with Enzo and Reid on the opposite end. King and Enzo kept talking and looking through pictures as Reid looked up and smiled at me. I walked up to King and ran my hand up his arm looking down at the table.

He didn't hesitate to lower himself and pick me up wrapping an arm around my waist. "Tomorrow night Santiago will be at the Theater in Venice, so we will stop him at the trade." King rubbed my back and held me close. Reid wasn't paying attention to the table but at me. He had a sly smile on his face but I could tell he was confused. "It's a special event so we'll need suits and dates." As they continued to speak I turned my head away and wrapped my arms around King's neck. His hand dipped and pulled down the short dress I had on. "Dad and mom. I'll get Gabby. I'm guessing you and the doctor here?" Reid asked. "Why the fuck would I put her in the middle of this, Reid?" The same tone I heard from his mom, he hand copied in this moment.

"Okay Knight in shining armor, I'll get you someone from the team." Before anyone said anything Andrea called out to us. King held on to me and walked up stairs with Bear following us. "How'd you sleep doc?" He whispered in my ear. "First time I slept in a while. I kissed his ear and jumped out of his arms before walking into the kitchen with him. "Where are the others?" Andrea asked before feeding Bear beacon. "Where I left them." King picked up two plates from the counter. "Watch who you're speaking to." She walked around and kissed her mom's face. "Thank you for the breakfast ma, I'm taking her to eat up the stairs."  She blew me a kiss and I smiled as I followed King up stairs.

"Shouldn't we eat with them?" I asked as we walked into the master bedroom. "They're just going to huddle up around the tv and watch tv." We got on the bed and sat in front of each other without food. "Are you guys going to be okay tomorrow?" He looked up at me and thought before speaking. "Won't promise anything but it is a routine tomorrow night nothing should go wrong." I pet Bear who laid in my lap as I ate. "Can I ask you a question?" His eyes moved to my neck. "You just did." I chuckled softly, tucking my hair behind my ear. "Your brother didn't get into a bar fight. Halston showed up and he was in the wrong place at the wrong time?" I sighed and nodded. "Your dad's fast." I said.  "What is he asking you to do?" I slowly put more food in my mouth avoiding answering him.

I didn't know how he'd react. Though Reid and Enzo had joyful personalities you could tell they had a quick and passive temper, ready to go off at any time. "Can we talk about it outside of the home? He said he'll be listening." My phone rang and I leaned over to pick it up. "Romano speaking." My eyes never left his, he tilted his head as he bit on his lip. "Dr. Romano, you are scheduled to be back to work today." I heard my assistant remind me of what I had completely forgotten. King pulled the plates away from us and called Bear off the bed. "You have a surgery planned for an hour from now." She continued. He pulled me in and laid on top of me kissing my neck causing a laugh to escape me. "Reschedule for this afternoon, I'm on my way right now."

I lied as I wrapped my legs around his waist. He took my empty hand in his and intertwined our fingers together. "Pass the phone to my brother, so I can check on him please." King made his way down to my chest sucking on my skin leaving marks from his soft lips. "No visit yesterday and no call, you had me worried for a while there Frankie." I ran my hands through King's hair. "Yeah sorry about that Vanni I was busy with.." I got stuck and looked down to him smiling waiting for an answer. "With me." He yelled into the phone. I quickly pushed my hand over his mouth and jumped off of the bed. "Max, I'm with Max and we are planning a dinner for Jocelyn." King jumped off and cornered me into the wall.

I pushed my hand over his mouth muffling his words as Bear baked from the bed. "Max has a dog?" Giovanni asked as King licked my palm, tickling me and causing me to pull away. "Nope, it's the tv, it's a dog commercial." I lied, turning away and facing the wall. King pinned me and lifted my dress softly running his thumb against my ass. "Giovanni, I will be at the hospital soon. I love you bye." I hung up without another word and turned to face King before rolling my eyes. "Who's Max?" He dragged his hands up my body and brushed his lips against mine softly. "My friend's husband." I said truthfully as I cupped his face in my hands. He closed his eyes and leaned into them.

"King, we shouldn't do it like this." I pulled him in. "Going around telling people and showing it. Last night was amazing really, but with everything going on, maybe we should stay to ourselves. I shouldn't have come down there this morning and You shouldn't have sat next to me like that last night." He pulled his hands off me and narrowed his eyes, his eyebrows dipped. "So what business partners?" I shrugged. "To put in small words. King I just don't want us going into this in the middle then at the end it's not the same between us."

King grew to become important to me, I don't know how it's going to end. With my family being threatened and me risking all of our lives by telling him I didn't want us parading ourselves.

"I guess waiting some more won't hurt but Doc, know this, nothing will ever change the ending I have for us." He pulled me in and kissed me before I tugged him into a hug. "If I don't see you by tomorrow night, be safe."

"Well I have someone to come back to so I'll be safe."
