King's pov
I had just walked Francesca out to her car and walked back into the house. I was going to go down stairs when Reid called out to me from the kitchen. Our parents were talking in front of they fridge as I sat down next to him. "So?" He asked with a mouth full of food. I shrugged my shoulders in confusion. "Are we going to act like that didn't just happen down there?" He asked. "Are you missing something on the plan?" He hit my arm and I held it as if his punch hurt. "Dude you brought a girl home for the first time." He spun in his chair to now be facing me. "She was here when I showed up." He scoffed. "I don't believe that." He said taking another bite of food. "Ma tell him." I asked as she pulled away from her conversation. "She came to speak with us." She agreed with me.
"Okay so you holding onto her like that and pulling down her dress so her ass isn't out is nothing?" He said through a laugh. "And this conversation is over." I faked a smile and stood up getting ready to walk away. "He's right, you know." My mom said walking over us with dad following. "Last night when you came home you should've seen the way her eyes lit up, as soon as you turned that corner." I tried to hide a smile as I sat back down. "She woke up and asked for you right away." She leaned on the counter looking waiting for me to show anything that I cared. She wanted the satisfaction but so did Reid and I wasn't going to give it to him.
"Bear loves her, follows her everywhere. King last night you two go upstairs and disappear for hours, come back with your back fucked." My dad said, causing Reid to jump out of his seat and lift my shirt laughing as I groaned and pushed him away. "Dude, you're falling for her." He sat back down in his seat. "Nowhere near that." I said pointing to them all as I stood up to leave. "Mom I wish you were there when I said for her to attend tomorrow, he freaked and held her tight."
"I did not." I yelled walking back. 'Why the fuck would I put her in the middle of this, Reid?' He mocked me. "I mean last time you looked at a girl like that middle school. Our teacher." A smirk pulled at my lips. "Miss Teddy." I said, thinking back. "Look, if you think I'm bugging you for it, I'm not. You need a break from all this. I think she'd be good for you." His voice shifted being sentimental. "He's right son, can't let what we do consume you." I looked at my dad then my mom who was smiling at me. "Are we done with the chick-flick moment? Nothing is consuming anybody. It's my life." I rolled my eyes at them. "I mean you could've let me hit first but whatever." Reid said with raised brows and a slick smile.
"Shut up or I'm knocking your front teeth out." I stood up and walked away heading downstairs. I heard steps following me as I made my way down and I noticed my mom following me. I walked over to the wall and grabbed a few guns bringing them to the table and she did the same. In silence we started to load the guns until she decided to give out an exaggerated sigh. "Say it." I looked through all the pictures of Santiago going to gas stations and his car passing through traffic cameras.
"What your brother was trying to say is, you're drifting." She put the guns down and leaned against the table. "You're letting the blood on your hands take you out of reality. Baby you bought a house miles away so we don't know how bad you're beating these men and training yourself." She wasn't wrong, when I'm in Germany I push myself in the gym till my hands literally give out. What she doesn't know is that the blood on my hands is water to me. Doesn't make me feel bad. I like it, I'm used to it. But I control myself, my anger isn't as bad anymore.
"Maybe Vanessa's daughter would be a nice change." Also not wrong. When torturing who I need to instead of my mind going blank, all I see is her and It makes me hit slow, steady, softer. "You want me to use her as a distraction from work?" I looked up at her and pushed the mag into my gun. "No." She started. " I want you to let her in, not just sex then pushing whatever it is you feel down. Feel your emotions towards her because it's what makes you human. I didn't push you out for you to turn into a robot, King."
"What I'm going to do when I find Halston is me showing emotion for her." I said picking up another gun and removing the bullet in its chamber. "And after I skin him alive ma, I'm going to put my hand down his throat, jam a .45 and empty the damn clip." She slowly walked around the table and took the gun out of my hand placing it on safety. She took my hand and kissed it before looking up to me with a smile. "King De'Luca. My sweet beautiful boy. When you empty that clip, you put in another and you empty it on anyone who helped him, hmm?"
"Yes ma'am."
