"You know what if corporate has a problem they can come to me. But as of right now this meeting ends now." The men that sat in my office sighed in frustration. "Well I understand a woman...well you don't understand but we don't want corporate in this, or it could take a toll on the hospital it's self." I stood up and walked over to the door, as my pager went off. "Please show your self out, or I'll sue you because, that was a bit sexist."
I walked out of my office and put my hair into a high ponytail. "Can someone please page neuro." One of my nurses said as I walked in to the E.R. "She's here, what do we got." I stated, slipping gloves over my long nails and hands. "Deep cut on the face, and heavy nose bleed." I didn't take a look at the person sitting on the bed and just looked at the chart.
"Why would you page me and not Plastic?" I asked. "Because darling I hit my head, and I have such a bloody headache." When I looked up I saw a gorgeous man covered in tattoos and dried blood. His British accent was not one you miss either.
I put his chart down after noticing there's no name, and walked up to the side of his bed tilting his head to look at me as I flashed the light of my pen in his eyes checking for any brain bleeds. "Can I get your name?" I asked him before flashing him a smile. "He refuses to give a name, chief."
"Don't lie." He said. "If the chief of this hospital going to be my surgeon she can get my name, Halston, Halston Adams." His eyes were no where but on my boobs. "Let's get you stitched up, and that nose bleed could be the cause of your headache, Mr. Adams." I said walking away from him and to a nurse, "If he asks for pain killers do nothing but give him a bit of morphine." And again my pager went off.
'God I just want to go home it's almost 1 in the morning.' As I headed to the front desk where I was paged I took a deep breath and wrapped my coat around my waist like I would a jacket. When I got to the front desk I noticed a very familiar face. "Beverly?" I asked walking up to her. "Damn I really thought two weeks would have made you forget me." She said hugging the life out of me.
Beverly has been my best friend since college and really like the only person I have, but she's gone most of the time because she's a traveling model. I let her live with me since she's pretty much always gone and She's been gone for two full weeks and I missed her. "How could I forget the person I love most?" I asked her, hugging her back. "When do you get off?" She asked me flashing movie tickets in my face. "I been off for an hour now I just been doing rounds that I should have done this morning, but I had back to back meetings."
"Ok so let's go." She said pulling on my arm. "I can't just leave I have a couple of things to do and I have to get my stuff." "You work so much I can't keep up but, I'll wait for you in the car." I nodded and let her go. I finished the rest of my rounds and went back to check on the guy sitting in my E.R.
"I have feeling we're going to be good friends... Francesca." He said as soon as he saw my face. I never gave him my name but I brushed it off. "That's only if you stay in my hospital. We both don't want that, right?"
"Right."
~I finished every thing and got my stuff before heading out the hospital to Beverly. I noticed her car immediately which was a glittery all red E-Class Cabriolet Mercedes Benz. I got in to see her smoking in the car. "I just got out of work and you want to get me high already." I teased at her, as I got into the front seat. "Of course, your horrible when your high." I looked at her with a smirk before taking the blunt from her and finished rolling it. "That's not a good thing."
"It could be if we went to a strip club." She said laughing. "I'd have to shower first." I told her trying to get out of it. "Me too, I just got out of a 9 hour flight, baby." I rolled my eyes at her and laid back into my seat.
I put down my window by the time we got on the highway and she was speeding. My eyes were shut halfway and so red but that didn't stop me from smoking another blunt, with her. I took my hair out of the ponytail and put my upper half of my body out of the window as my hair blow in the chill wind. I was off this world and almost not aware of anything at all and the street lights were blurry.
I felt insane almost but I loved it. I mean the best people are crazy.
