"ow," i groaned lowly as i woke up. i lifted my hand to rub at my face; i had lifted my left hand though, so the hard material of my cast knocked against my face. "fuck. owie."

i frowned as i just laid there in defeat for a moment. my head was already hurting hella bad when i woke up, but now my forehead is hurting too from where i just smacked myself with my cast.

i turned my head to the side. i reached my good hand out to pet shiloh as memories from last night started to fill my mind.

oh my god.

it was really nice of billie to bring me home last night. it was fine... until i literally fell on my face, right in front of her, when i tried to pet shiloh. that's really fucking embarrassing.

drinking on an empty stomach was definitely not my brightest idea.

to be fair though... i didn't even plan on drinking last night. it was a last minute decision.

i had a pretty shitty day yesterday. it seemed that everything that could go wrong, did. it didn't help that i ran into sophia when i was getting my lunch. the whole interaction was awkward, and i hated every second of it.

i almost just stayed home and listened to memories by conan gray for the rest of the day, but i couldn't just not go the bar; i go to the bar every friday now.

i sighed as i laid in my bed for a bit longer. i slowly sat up. when i did, i held my head in my hands for a few minutes. i then tried to get out of bed, only to tumble to the floor.

i groaned as i fell. my lips formed into a pout as i laid sprawled out on the floor. shiloh jumped off of the bed, and she pushed her snout into the palm of my hand for attention.

am i even sober? i still feel drunk as hell. what fucking time is it?

shiloh lightly bit my hand when i didn't give her any attention, though, as always, she didn't put any pressure behind the bite. i sighed, and i moved my hand from her mouth to scratch behind her ears.

i need to eat something.

i slowly sat up. i took my time. this time, i didn't fall to the ground.

hell yeah.

i rubbed at my face (with my good hand this time) as i made my way to the kitchen. i searched through my cabinets and my refrigerator.

i need to go shopping soon.

i sighed as i settled on some plain, saltine crackers. i got a bottle of water out of the refrigerator as well.

i leaned against the counter as i ate the crackers and drank my water. my head was still killing me, but i didn't even have any pain medicine anywhere in my apartment.

not that i would take pills to begin with, but...

i looked around for my phone. i eventually found it still in the back pocket of the jeans i wore last night.

of course.

i tried to turn it on. it was dead, so i made my way back to my room to put it on charge. once it was charging, i grabbed a fresh set of clothes so that i could take a shower.

after my shower (which i totally didn't almost pass out in) i placed a takeout order at crossroads kitchen.

billie wasn't lying when she said their food was amazing. i've ate there a few times since she suggested it to me, and i love it.

the time it would take for it to be done, gave me enough time to call an uber and get there. i did so right after i placed my takeout order, then started to make my way down to the lobby of my apartment complex.

"jessie?"

it's now a bit later. i just picked up my takeout order from crossroads, and i'm walking out of the restaurant.

my brows raised as i saw billie about to enter the restaurant. "hey."

"hi," billie greeted.

"um... thanks for last night; seriously," i met her eyes. "i don't know if i would've even made it home last night without you, so, yeah... thank you."

"yeah, of course; don't worry about it," she waved me off. she then lifted her hand, and she pointed to the knot on my forehead. "how's your head feeling?" she teased.

i narrowed my eyes at her as i lifted my hand to cover the knot. "it hurts... a lot," i mumbled.

she laughed loudly. i smiled, though winced a bit. "i'm still hungover as fuck," i sighed.

"it would probably be best to just sleep it off," she told me softly. "it's probably not the best idea to be out like this, either."

"yeah, well... i needed food," i shrugged as i held up the takeout back.

she glanced at it. "true. what did you get?"

"the chicken and waffles," i smiled.

"it's pretty fucking good, huh?" she grinned.

"very," i agreed.

we kinda just stood there, awkwardly for a few moments. neither of us said anything.

why are conversations so hard?

"i, uh... i guess i'll see you later," i told her. "at the bar."

"are you coming this friday?" she raised a brow.

"yeah. i'm not drinking this time, either. swear," i laughed a bit as i held out my pinky towards her.

she glanced down at my pinky, let out an adorable laugh, then linked her pinky with mine. "if you try to order a drink, just know that i'm not serving you," she teased.

i glanced over her, and i licked my lips. "alright, fair enough. i'll see you then, shorty."

"i'll see you then," she gave a small nod.

we started to walk our separate ways, but she stopped me. "oh, jessie?"

i turned around to face her again. "hm?"

"maybe you should ice that, or something," she pointed to her forehead. "it's just a suggestion."

i narrowed my eyes at her. "you know what..." i trailed off. i let out a small huff as i flipped her off, but she just laughed loudly in response before she walked into the restaurant.
