i pursed my lips as i stared at my phone. i had sent billie a text. she had read it almost immediately, though she didn't text back. the three dots didn't even appear.

i hesitated for a moment. i sent another text, though it never delivered. i frowned. it should've sent unless she either powered her phone completely off, or she blocked me.

she didn't block me... right? i didn't do anything for her to block me...

we were fine just a few hours ago.

my frown deepened as i started to overthink it. i tossed my phone onto the couch. naomi stirred in my lap, though i lifted my hand to comb it through her hair and she relaxed again.

we had watched frozen earlier. after we watched it, she insisted we watched frozen II as well. she had fallen asleep only fifteen minutes into it.

jasper had watched it with us as well, though he had fell asleep during the first forty minutes of frozen. he was sprawled out on the other couch, sleeping soundly.

i stood up, with naomi in my arms. she buried her face into my neck. i carried her to her room, and i gently set her in her bed. i covered her up, then made my way back to the living room to put jasper in his bed as well.

as i was stepping out of jasper's room, i almost bumped into kayla, jasper and naomi's mom. she sent a smile.

"thank you, seriously; for helping out with them and everything," she told me.

"don't worry about it," i waved her off. "i would come over and help out with them all the time, if i could," i gave a small laugh.

"i know they would love that; they both adore you," she smiled. i smiled too as i rubbed the back of my neck.

i dropped my hand, and i placed both of them in the pockets of my sweats. i told her goodnight before i headed back to the couch to get my phone. i then went to the room i was sleeping in while i was here.

i laid in the bed, and i looked at mine and billie's messages. the text still hadn't sent. i frowned again.

i sighed as i dropped my phone onto the bed. i lifted my hand to run it through my hair. i tried to rack my brain for anything i might've done, but nothing stood out.

i turned in the bed, and i pulled the blanket further over me. i continued to overthink it for the rest of the night.

the next morning, i woke up already feeling tired. i hardly got any sleep during the night.

the first thing i did was check my phone. i went to mine and billie's messages. my message from last night had finally delivered, which meant that she hadn't blocked me. she had left the message on read again though, and she didn't text back.

i frowned as i stared at the screen. i dropped my phone onto the bed as i sat up and rubbed at my face.

only a few minutes later, there was a small knock on the door. "come in!" i called out.

the door bursted open only a few seconds later. i smiled as i saw that it was naomi. her hair was still a mess from where she had been sleeping, but she had a big grin on her face.

"well, good morning, princess," i greeted with a grin as well as she ran over to the bed. i bent down, and i scooped her up into my arms.

"good morning!" she greeted.

"what are you doing up so early?" i asked in a teasing tone as i tickled her. "huh?"

"'cause!" she answered simply as she giggled.

when i stopped, i booped her nose. "have you had breakfast yet?" i asked. she shook her head. "okay, well, you go eat some, and i'll be in there in a few minutes, alright?"

"okay!" she nodded quickly.

before she got off of the bed, she planted a kiss to my cheek. i smiled as she did, then helped her off the bed. she ran out of the room, and i shook my head with a small laugh.

i got out of the bed, and i went to the bathroom to do my morning routine. once i was done, i walked to the kitchen to find naomi.

when i got in there, i saw that jasper and naomi were fighting over something. i noticed that it was one of jasper's dinosaur stuffies.

"you can't have this! jj got this for me!" jasper huffed as he tried to pull it away from her. "she got it for me when i was three! you can't have it!"

"but i want it!" naomi whined.

i walked over to them, and i stopped them from trying to pull it away from the other. "if you two keep on, you're gonna tear it apart, and then no one can have it," i warned them.

"i want it! i wanna hold it," naomi sniffled.

"it's jasper's though, alright, princess?" i told her softly as i wiped away her tears. "how about this... after you eat, we can go get you one too? does that sound okay?"

"can we? pretty please?" she pouted. i nodded with a smile, and i watched as she smiled a bit too.

i turned to jasper, who was cuddling the dino stuffy close to his chest. i ruffled his hair. "you good, lil' man?"

he nodded as he continued to hold the stuffy.

"no, i didn't do anything. i've tried thinking of anything i could've done, but there's nothing," i told matthew over the phone.

"i don't know, jj..." he mumbled. "all i know to tell you is to talk it out when you get back to los angeles."

"that's still so long from now though," i frowned.

"it's three days," he deadpanned.

"well, three days is a long time to be thinking about something like that," i huffed. "just wondering what i did..."

"i dunno, maybe you didn't even do anything. it could be something that's just bothering billie, like personal shit, you know?" he pointed out.

i thought for a moment. "i guess it could be, but i don't know. i just hope everything will turn out okay with us... i really like her, matt," i frowned again.

"i know. hopefully things will turn out okay," he murmured.
