"HA! BEAT YOU AGAIN! BEAT YOU AGAIN!" Natsuo laughs as he points in my face. After he finished his homework, I agreed to play MarioKart with him until he got too tired. I'd let him win the last seven races to cheer him up after everything that happened. He promised to not say a word about "his big brother getting cooties" in exchange for letting him pick all of the courses.
"Dinner is ready! Toya, go give Shoto his plate while Natsuo sets the table," Fuyumi calls. I pause the game before grabbing the tray of chicken and rice with cold soba; I walk to Shoto's room, looking at the pictures in the hallway of all of us growing up. The farther down the hallway, pictures of Natsuo and Fuyumi and I were almost nonexistent, and they only displayed Shoto. I sigh before opening the door to his bedroom; his lights are off, and he is sound asleep. Quietly, I set the tray on his nightstand next to the candle and lock the door on my way out. As soon as I shut it, I hear the front door swing open and slam. My heart stops as I turn my head to look down the hallway and see my father staring daggers into me.
"Why are you in his room. He's not allowed to interact with you," He spits as he stalks toward me, his eyes piercing. I growl and turn on my heel to walk back towards the kitchen. I get about halfway down the hall when I hear Shoto's door handle jiggling violently.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
"SHOOOOTOOO WHY IS YOUR DOOR LOCKED?! NO LOCKING DOORS IN THIS HOUSE!" Enji roars, and I spin back around, igniting my palms.
"HE'S ASLEEP YOU OLD FUCK!" I angrily shout, and Enji turns toward me with a dangerous gaze.
"YOU DISRESPECTFUL CHILD! HE NEEDS TO TRAIN! HE'S HAD ALL DAY TO REST!" He thunders as he keeps banging on the door. I hear Shoto crying, and Fuyumi rushes into the hallway, screaming.
"DAD PLEASE! PLEASE LEAVE HIM ALONE! HE NEEDS TO REST AND HEAL! PLEASE! PLEASE! DINNER IS READY! LET'S ALL CALM DOWN AND please, please just calm down," She breaks down into sobs as she runs to Dad and falls to her knees. The pro 'hero' gives her a cold, unfeeling gaze before saying something under his breath and walking around her. He pushes past me, shoulder-checking me, and immediately stops.
"You. You're out of the house tonight. If you can't be respectful of your own father in his own house, you can't stay here," He seethes before resuming his slow pace to the kitchen. My blood boils. He hasn't seen me for an entire month, and he's kicking me out.
"FINE! SCREW YOU! I DON'T NEED THIS!" I snarl as I stalk to my room to start packing.
"ANY MORE SASS AND I'M PULLING YOU OUT OF THAT SCHOOL! Don't forget, Toya. The only reason you're even still there is so our family name isn't tainted . Even though you've already smeared it enough," He shouts. I fight back the fury building in my throat as I feel my Quirk begging me to release it. I angrily shove my clean laundry into my duffel along with my med kit.
"TOYA! TOYA PLEASE DON'T LEAVE! WE GOTTA FINISH OUR GAME AFTER DINNER!" Natsuo cries from the dining room, and a smack cracks through the air.
'He hit him. He fucking hit Natsuo.'
"What have I told you about playing video games! They rot your brain! How are you going to be a doctor if you're a mindless drone!" His voice echoes through the house. I jerk open the drawer in my nightstand and stick my old cold steel butterfly knife in my pocket before I zip my duffel closed. I throw open my door and slam it shut only for Enji to get one last word in.
"IF I HEAR YOU SLAM THAT DOOR AGAIN WHEN YOU'RE HOME I'M GOING TO TEAR IT OFF!" He says authoritatively, and I snap. I feel fire in my veins and a vile wrath in every inch of my being.
"ARRRRRRRRRGH! EAT GLASS! YOU! RAT! BASTARD!" I rage before stomping out the front door.
"IF YOUR ASS ISN'T HERE ON TIME NEXT FRIDAY I'M WITHDRAWING YOU!" The words blast out of the open windows in the large house. A mad, angry shriek rips from my throat as I'm overcome with emotion, and I stamp toward his new Mercedes-Benz that he purchased when his approval rating improved last year.
