"Well, hey there future Mister Takami," Rue smirks as I step out of the elevator onto the ground floor of our agency.
"Bestie, please , if anything, he'll be taking my last name," I snicker before playfully pushing her head. She fixes her ears before lightly socking me in the arm.
"Your glove just barely covers up the ring, so you won't have to worry about the paparazzi swarming," Rue remarks as I stride with her out of the automatic doors and onto the streets of Musutafu. I flex my fingers, feeling the tungsten ring on my left ring finger. It's...comforting. It almost feels like Keigo is still with me, even though he's not here. It's what it symbolizes.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. It's not like they haven't been all over the two of us since I made out with him on live TV a year and a half ago. Once they find out we're engaged, they'll probably make us do some stupid interview like Megan Fox and MGK did," I yawn, running my hands through my hair as the sounds of early morning traffic reach my ears.
"What? Scared you won't get all the questions right?" Rue sneers, putting her hands on her hips and scanning the rush-hour crowds.
"Pffft. I'm pretty sure I know enough about Birdbrain; if there's anything that I don't know, I'll be surprised," I smile, and Rue rolls her eyes.
"Didn't take you for a sappy sentimental type. You actually pay attention?" Rumi chides as a group of fanboys slowly starts approaching the two of us...well...Rumi.
"Yes, I actually pay attention to the love of my fucking life, believe it or not. I make an exception for him, duh. I pay attention to you, too, bitch. I know that you always get a caramel macchiato every Thursday and that your least favorite alcohol is Crown Royal. And that you'd sell my organs in a heartbeat if it meant you'd get to meet Doja Cat," I retort as Rumi awkwardly stops to pose for pictures with the kids.
"I'd sell your organs for a Klondike bar, Fire Hazard," She whispers to me through her fake smile, and I smirk, playfully poking her in the back.
"You know you love me, CottonTail," I wink, and Rumi groans.
"You really did a number of Keigo, didn't you?" She says under her breath as she waves goodbye to the fans.
"Oh, he can't even fly," I try to hide my laughter, and Rue doubles over.
"BAHAHAHAHAHH! WHAT?! That's hilarious ! Damn, Todoroki! Props to you," She holds out her hand, and I promptly slap a crisp high-five.
"Not the first time he couldn't walk. But flying, too? That's the funniest part to me," I yawn, stretching my arms as we continue walking down the street.
"I feel like people will be suspicious when they don't see the third member of Team Phoenix on patrol, though," I remark anxiously, but Rumi shrugs.
"The paparazzi are gonna find out at some point, man. It's only a matter of time. The best thing you can do is for one of y'all to break the news yourselves so it's not some big exposé. Remember when they tried to make Ryukyu and I some big scandal?" Rue says as she adjusts the straps of her leotard.
"How is Ryuko?" I prod, turning to look at Rue as we wait to cross the street. Rumi goes silent for a few seconds.
"Good. I think she wants to keep our relationship open?" Mirko mutters to me as her eyes light up. She suddenly darts off into the traffic and stops an old lady from stumbling into the busy road. The cross sign lights up, and I calmly walk to meet her.
"And how do you feel about that?" I continue our conversation, and Rumi seems to get flustered.
"I...don't know. I've finally decided that I'm omnisexual. That's the label I'm smacking on it. But, I don't know about the whole...poly...thing," She admits as we follow our normal round through the city.
