"You sure you're gonna be okay, Toya?" Keigo asks as he helps me make our bed. It'd been two weeks since I got my piercings and my tattoo, and they'd all healed completely. We decided to push our beds together since Rumi knew our secret, and she was really the only other person that ever came into our dorm. Plus, it gave us more space, and we could all sit on the bed and watch movies comfortably. I was finally going home again after getting permission to stay for two weekends to watch the UA Sports Festival broadcast on the side of the matte black Nursing building.
"I mean, he's gonna hate these new additions. But, I think it makes me look sexy," I laugh as I flex my left arm, making the blazing dragon move around slightly. Keigo sighs and shakes his head as he hands me my backpack. I take it before taking a deep breath.
"I'm visiting Mom today. That's why they're letting me leave early. I'll miss all my classes because I wanted to get to the hospital early. It's a bit of a drive, and they only allow visitors during the morning. But, I called the hospital, and they said they'd make an exception for me. She wants to see me. She's...excited," My voice cracks on the last note as I try not to break down. It had been a month since the accident, and Shoto completely had his vision back. He no longer had to wear a bandage or an eyepatch. However, the red scar still remained. I knew Mom wasn't gonna be happy with the piercings, but I think she'd like the dragon. She had a tattoo on her leg of a polar bear that I always thought was really wholesome. It was really inconspicuous since she always wore long dresses. I remember her showing it to me when I was sad as a child, trying to cheer me up with the little cartoon character and making it wave by moving her leg. I couldn't wait to see her. Keigo wraps his arms around me and pulls me close, his wings brushing against my face.
"Just...be safe, Toya. I love you,"
"I love you too, Kei."

I take a deep breath as I pull into the sparsely populated parking lot next to the hospital. It looks almost creepy, like a prison rather than a mental health facility. I step out of my car with my backpack slung over my shoulder and shut my door before clicking the lock and waltzing up to the front of the building. The automatic doors sweep away as I step through, and the cold AC hits me like a brick. The lobby is empty, save for the judgemental-looking elderly woman at the reception desk. I slowly walk up and pull out my driver's license before sliding it across the table.
"I'm here to see Rei Todoroki. I'm her eldest son," I say, trying to sound upbeat. The woman takes my ID and clicks through several pages on her computer before placing my ID on the counter.
"Not on the list," She says flatly. My heart stops.
"Huh?"
"You're not on the list of allowed visitors," She says flatly. The blood in my veins boils. This has to be his doing. He's the one who put her here. I struggle to maintain my composure as I feel my anger bubbling up.
"Look, I'm sure you're a nice person, but I was specifically told over the phone that I could see my mom. That she was excited to see me. Alright? And I haven't seen her in a month so it would be nice to actually talk to her," I say through gritted teeth, trying to keep my cool and be polite.
"Not on the list."
I ball my hands into fists and struggle to not let my face light up. I refuse to take no for an answer.
"I'm. Her. Son. I don't need to be on a goddamn list," I seethe, but the woman just gives me a blank, uncaring stare.
"Policy," She shrugs.
"Who's on the list?" I snap. She clicks on her computer again.
"Enji Todoroki. That's it." I feel like I'm going to ignite.
