Gab arrived at her girlfriend's doorstep around 9 PM. With a smile on her face as she is excited to see her. She knocked on the door and after waiting for a few seconds, the door cracked open and it revealed her girlfriend, Steph.

Her eyebrows creased as she sense that Steph looks like she hasn't had any sleep at all.

"Are you okay?" Gab asked as she enter the apartment and wait for Steph's answer.

"Not really. I hardly slept last night." she responded.

"Why? Did you have trouble sleeping? Were you overthinking again? Hmm?" Gab continued.

Her girlfriend giggled, "You're cute when you're worried." Gab threw her a 'what the hell look'.

"Nah, readings. I have a lot of readings to do. That said, I will get back to you later. I just have to finish some stuff, okay?" she abruptly left Gab in the living room to her room.

Gab can only sighed as she really can't reason with her sometimes. She decided to organize the supplies she brought for her instead. She finished doing that a little over an hour. She also did a bit of cleaning here and there.

After that, she prepared herself to go to sleep. As she was about to enter their room, she saw Steph, fighting herself from falling asleep. Again, Gab sighed then walked over to her. She stood behind her and leaned a bit forward.

"Hey, how's the reading going?" Gab asked.

"Boring." she said.

"Let's sleep then." Gab suggested.

"I can't, I have an exam tomorrow." she sounded sad.

"What time?" Gab continued.

"2 PM." then she yawned.

"Okay, I'll help you study tomorrow. Right now, we're going  to sleep." Gab reached for her arms and gently pulled her up from the seat.

"B-but . . . " she tried to protest but Gab cut her off, "Please Love, you need to sleep. All you're doing right now will be in vain if you'll get sick. So no but's, alright?" Steph pouted but nodded as response.

"Good girl." Gab grabbed her shoulders and pulled her towards the bed and helped her get on it. Once done, she immediately went to the other side and lay with her.

"Cuddle?" Gab asked.

Steph nodded as she yawned. "Are you sure you're going to help me?" she asked with half closed eyes. Gab slipped her arm and put her girlfriend's head on it.

"Yeah but not for free though." she jokingly answered as she pulled her closer to her body.

"Hmm? Both of my kidneys are healthy. Would you like one?" Gab barely heard it because it was more of a mumble.

It took a few seconds before it registered to her head what she said, "Wait, what?!" She looked at her, saw her eyes closed and steady breathing.

She's fast asleep.

A laugh wanted to come out but that it will definitely wake the girl up.

"What would I even do with your kidney?" She muttered lowly to herself while smiling.

Steph's like a drunk person when sleepy and Gab's favorite antics of her.

She planted a kiss on her forehead and drifted to dreamland.

The Next Day...

Gab woke up without feeling her arm," Okay, this will hurt."

She slightly pulled up the girl's head so she could retrieve her arm. She decided to take a few seconds to look at her girlfriend's face.

"It's not so bad to wake up like this everyday." She muttered to herself.

She kissed her head before standing up and to prepare breakfast.

Gab was busy setting up the table when she someone staring at her. She looked up and found her girlfriend with disheveled hair and a light scowl painted on her face.

It confused her, "Good morning. Are you okay?"

Then a pout came, "You weren't beside me when I woke up."

Gab was about to crack a smile because she was being adorable but quickly pursed her lips to prevent it. She knew that it's best to not mess with someone who just woke up.

She doesn't want to ruin her morning and be grumpy all day. Gab stopped and put down the plate she was holding and walked towards her.

"Right, I'm sorry. I decided to make prepare breakfast." Gad apologized as soon as she reached her, "Don't worry, I'll do better next time." then quicky kissed her head and dragged her by the hand to the dining table.

"Now, please take a seat so we could start our breakfast, yeah?" Gab told her, "Ah wait, coffee." she quickly moved and grabbed two mugs from the kitchen counter and put them down on the table.

Gab took her seat beside her. Steph's just stared at her girlfriend and the latter noticed.

"Why are you staring?" Gab turned her head.

Steph's scowl was long gone. Gab noticed how slowly her expression switched to a soft one.

"Thank you." Steph said.

"For?" the girl replied.

"For always doing things for me. For just . . . being there." Steph answered.

"I appreciate that you appreciate all the things that I'm doing but, you don't really have to thank me." Gab paused then looked her directly in the eyes, "I love taking care of you."

The couple locked their eyes on each other with a contented smiles on their faces.

Sometimes, words aren't just enough to express what you're feeling. A comforting silence and an eye contact can convey all the feelings.

Here's a little reminder that sleep is important. Try not to overwork/overstudy. Your mental and physical health matters too. Don't take them for granted. Take a break when you can. Go out and explore. Be silly. Be spontaneous. Do the things that makes you happy. You can't take care of others if you can't take care of yourselves.

Peace out!

Thank you for reading!
