Chapter 7:
Steve, Robin, and I are working at the mall. Robin and I were sitting in the back listening to Steve try to flirt with these two girls. It was quite funny and cute to see him stutter and get all awkward.
The girls were about to leave until I walk through the door and the girls smile and wave, "oh, bye, Y/n!"
"Bye, girls!" I wave and smile.
Steve looks back at me and smiles.
Robin opens the window with a white board of our names on it. "And another one bites the dust." She looks down and puts a tally under Steve's name. "You are oh-for-six, Popeye."
"Yeah, yeah, I can count."
"You know that means, you suck, right?"
"Yeah, I can read."
"Since when?"
"It's this stupid hat. I am telling you, it it totally blowing my best feature."
"Which is none?" I grin.
"Hey!" Steve looks at me offended with a hand over his chest.
"What?" I laugh.
"Company policy is a real drag," Robin leans on the counter. "You know, it's a crazy idea, but have you considered. Telling the truth?" Robin looks at him and then nods over to me.
I raise my eyebrow in confusion. Steve sits and looks at me, "oh, you mean, that I couldn't get into Tech, and my douchebag dads trying to teach me a lesson. I make three bucks an hour, and I have no future? That truth?"
"Uh, sure..." I hold the sure for a while. It was like that wasn't the truth she was talking about but just agreed anyways. She then looks over his shoulder, "hey, twelve o'clock."
We look over and see some girls I used to know during high school. "Oh shit, oh shit," Steve looks at me. "Get in the back."
"What?"
"Get in the back. If you're here they'll only pay attention to you."
I roll my eyes and meet Robin in the back. Steve looks at us, "and you know what? Screw company policy." Steve rips off his hat revealing his hair.
"Oh my God, you're a whole new man."
"Ooh," Steve walks off to the ladies. "Ahoy ladies! Didn't see you there!" Steve yells, making the girls jump. "Would you guys like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me? I'll be your captain. I'm Steve Harrington."
"This is too hard to watch," I sigh. I walk over to Robin who has just put another tally under Steve's name. "Wanna play goldfish?"
Robin looks at me and smiles, "yeah, of course." I deal the cards and as we wait for Steve to be done with those ladies. Robin and I were just talking and playing. We would talk about our life during and after high school. Robins always been very nice with me and I love it. She's like my new best friend.
It's been a while since Steve was dealing with those girls and I walk out the start scooping when some kid from high school walks in.
"Aye, Johnson! Harrington! How've you guys been?" Johnny smiles.
"Been pretty good," I speak for the both of us.
"So, "miss I know everything" why aren't you in college?"
"We'll first of all, it's summer. I haven't started yet. Second, I'm going to a college in town."
"Oh, makes sense. Harrington? You got any plans for after summer?"
