Chapter 19

One month later

Y/n's POV:

We were in Steve's car going to Steve's and Robins job interview since the mall got burnt down. I already got a job at the Arcade next door. Robin knows the manager apparently so they wanted to apply there. We park in front of the Family Video shop.

"You put your mom down as a reference?" Robin asks.

"Yeah. Why not? She's, like, super well-respected," Steve opens the door for us.

"You're such a dingus," Robin rolls her eyes.

"Wha-"he stumbles in.

"You guys," I holler. They turn towards me, "good luck at this interview." They look at me and nod. They both get to the counter. I pick up a movie and start reading about it.

"We would like to apply for this job, Keith," Robin says.

"Okay..?" the store owner says.

"Uh, just to be clear, we weren't fired you know. The mall burned down and, like, killed a bunch of people," Robin says.

"Thanks for sharing. Didn't know," he stares blankly at them. He puts down their papers. "Three favorite movies. Go."

"Uh, The Apartment, Hidden Fortress, Children of Paradise," Robin says.

"You go."

"Favorite movies?"

"Did I stutter?"

"Right, uh, Animal House, for sure. Uh."

"Eyes on me, Harrington."

"Uh, Star Wars."

"A New Hope?"

"A New what now?"

"Which Star Wars movie?"

"The one with the teddy bears. Duh," Steve makes the weirdest noice ever.

I look up from the movie I've been staring at, "I can't believe you are my boyfriend and you can't name a Star Wars movie." Steve looks at me and gives me a 'you're not helping' look.

"Oh, the movie that just came out. The movie that just came out. The one with the DeLoreab and Alex P. Keaton, and he's trying to bang his mom." He laughs. "Yeah, those are my top three, Classics."

"Okay...?" He turns to me awkwardly, "you, go!"

I look at him, "oh, I'm not applying. I already have a job."

"I don't care. Go."

"Okay, um, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Sixteen Candles."

"I've always liked you," he smiles and nods. He turns back to the two, "you start Monday, he points to Robin. "You start never," he tells Steve. I laugh.
