Chapter 18

Two months later

Steve's POV:

I had gotten Sunflowers and Lilly's with Dustin at the plant nursery and we got her favorite snacks. Dustin and I are at my house putting at basket together all nice and neat. Robin also helped us make it look pretty.

"Dude, I know for a fact she's going to say yes," Dustin says.

"Yeah?" I say, fixing my hair.

"Harrington, you'll kill it. She seems to be digging you. She won't say no."

"Yeah?"

"Stop second guessing yourself. You'll kill this. Just be yourself. That's what she likes."

"Okay, I got this," they walk me out of my house and to my car.

"Are you sure we can't hide in your car?" Dustin groans.

"Yes, wait, what if we kiss?" I check my breath.

Robin slaps my hands away, "you smell great. Now, go!" She pushes me into my car. I take a deep breath and start my car.

I arrive at her house. I was just parked. I am frozen. I grab the basket and her favorite flowers. I walk to her doorstep and knock on her door. I hear some shuffling and her yell, "I'll get it!" She then opens the door. She was wearing some overalls with a red crewneck. Her hair was natural. She didn't crimp it or anything. It was just natural.

She looks at me and shines a bright smile. Her eyes drift down to the basket. She gasps, "what's this for?"

"You," I put the basket and flowers in her hands. She invites me inside her house so she can put the put them in a vase.

"You're sweet Harrington," she looks at me.

I smile, "diner?" I dangle my keys at her. She just walks out the door and I take that as a yes. We hop in my car, "you choose the music this time." I look at her. Y/n looks at me delighted of the words that came out my mouth and starts looking at the CD's. She puts on one of my songs and we head to our favorite diner. Johnson's.

We arrive at Johnson's and sit at our booth. The waitress walks over and we order food and I order a milkshake. "So," she starts

"So," I repeat.

"This is so random," y/n sighs.

"I'll tell you once we're done eating," I laugh. She raises her eyebrow and smirks at me.

We get our food, "thank you," she thanks the Waiter and starts eating her food.

"What if-what if the mind flayer comes back. Again," Y/n speaks up.

"I don't know, it's weird thinking about it though. I just wish that this would all be over."

"Hopefully it is," she sighs.

"How's college?" I ask.

"It's alright, I just want to be done already."
