Chapter 25

I wake up in Steve's guest bedroom. The Harrington's were nice enough to let me sleep in their guest bedroom that is right next to Steve's. We had to get up to pick up everyone and go to the store for Eddie. Even if I feel like shit and I absolutely don't want to get up, I force myself. I pull on some mom jeans and a tank top and a flannel along with some high top converse.

After I'm done and sit on the bed, cross me legs, and sigh. What am I going to do? With me having to get to my classes on time how am I going to help everyone. I need to get some type of well paying job so I keep that house. I hear a knock on the door.

"Come in!"

The door opened slightly and Steve pokes his head in, "how you doin'?"

"I'm hanging in there," I flash a faint smile.

Steve looks at me and full steps into the room, "liar."

"What?"

"You are lying," he sits down next to me.

"How?"

"From what had just happened there is no way you are okay. Y/n, I know you too well, and I know that face you make when you lie."

"I do not make a 'face'," I use air quotes.

"Um, yes you do. Your voice gets higher and you slightly wiggle your nose."

"I don't even know how to do that."

"Doesn't mean you don't do it accidentally," Steve puts his nose up in the air.

"Whatever Steve, I just don't know what I'm going to do."

"What do you mean?" Steve tilts his head.

"I mean, I thought I would have more time. I didn't think I would have to start paying for a house at nineteen. I didn't think my parents would die when I'm nineteen. I didn't think that I would have to figure out how hell I am not going to be homeless at nineteen." I look at Steve, "I have no idea what I am going to do once my house is cleaned up and I can move back in."

Steve puts his arm around me and pulls me in while rubbing my arm, "I will help you, you know that right?"

I nod my head slightly. Steve ducks his head just a little so he can be eye level to me, "I will be by your side. I will care for you. If you feel like no one is there, I am there."

I have no idea why, but a tear drop falls from my eyes. I hate crying in front of people. I hate it. Steve pulls me into a hug and I hug him back. Steve eventually let's go, "imma go take a shower. My mom is making breakfast down stairs so you can just head down there when you're ready." Steve pecks me on the lips and leaves the room.

I get up and walk infront of the mirror. I see my red nose and my puffy eyes. I smile in front of the mirror to try and calm down my face. Once I pull myself together I walk downstairs to see Mrs. Harrington making pancakes and Coffee, "good morning, honey."

"Good morning, Mrs. Harrington," I lightly smile.

"Where's Steve?" She asks.
