Chapter 40

We hear a loud bang making us stop from our little mid-victory dance.

"Back to back, come on," Eddie whispers to me. We go back to back with our spears and shields in hand. We walk slowly in circles.

The creatures stop banging on the wall. "Holy shit, they're gone," I gleam.

"Sh, they're on the roof," Eddie mutters. The banging starts to happen again. The banging seems to be leading away from us so we follow it. It stops at a vent.

"Please tell me they can't get through there, Eddie," Just as I say that one of them sticks their heads through and screams in our face. We scream in fear and begin sticking out spears through.

"Why won't they leave us alone!" I shout.

"Die!" Eddie screams. I continued to stab the bats when Eddie stops.

"What are you doing?! I need you!" I yell.

"Hold on!" Eddie yells as he puts the shield on the vent. He slowly moves his spear away and the shield stays. Eddie pants, "holy shit." 

"Good work," I raise my hand. Eddie high fives it. The we hear the from the other side of the trailer. "Are there other vents?"

"Shit," Eddie sighs. We start running towards the other vent but we don't make it there in time. The bats come rushing inside as we start running away. Eddie closes the door and the bats start banging on the door.

We make it to the gate. "Eddie! We need to go!" I yell.

"Go! Go! I'm right after you!" He shouts. I quickly start to climb up through the gate and I fall on the mattress.

"Eddie! Come on!" I shout as Eddie drops his weapons and starts to climb.

Eddie stops and drops to the floor.

"Eddie," I furrow my eyebrows. Eddie grabs a knife and cuts the rope. "Eddie stop!"

He continues to move the mattress out of the way. "Eddie get the fuck over here! What are you doing!"

Eddie stops and looks up at me, "I'm buying more time."

"Eddie, no!" I shout as Eddie picks back up his weapons and rushes out the trailer.

"Eddie! What the hell?!" I yell. I start to panic and I look around the trailer.  "Well," I look at the the chair besides me.

I grab it and place it by the gate. "This better fucking work," I say to myself. "Eddie you fucking idiot."

I run to area of the chair and jump off the chair and grasp onto the gate. I start to carefully climb through when the gravity drops me on my feet.

"Ahh!" I scream in pain. I rolled my ankle. I let out a shaky breath. "Okay. Okay. I muscle myself up and I start limp running outs the trailer. I look around to see if I can find Eddie anywhere.

"Eddie!" Scream. I look around to see thousands of Demobats swarming around in the sky.

"Eddie!" I yell as I run as fast as I can no matter how painful it is or how much damage I am doing to my body. I need to save Eddie from the biggest mistake he has ever made.

I make it to find the bats flying away from his body. My mouth trembles and my hands shake to see his body lying there.

"Eddie!" My voice breaks. "No!" I rush to his side and collapse on the floor. "Please, look at me," I plead. Eddie had blood everywhere. His mouth was full of blood. His sides were eaten up.
