Chapter 30
I was looking around Victor Creels house with Max. The place where the murder happened. The place where we believe Vecna could be living at.
We both point our flashlights at a clock at the same time. As soon as I lay eyes on the clock I hear a chime. The chime only one curtain clock could make. Max turns towards me with a fearful look in her eyes. This wasn't just any ordinary clock. It was thee clock. A grandfather clock.
"Guy?!" Max calls. "You guys see that right?"
Everything walks up behind us and looks up at the grandfather clock, "yeah."
"Is this what you saw?" Nancy asks. "I'm your— visions."
"I mean, it's— just a clock. Right?" Robin walks up and wipes her hand across the glass covering the face of the clock.
She turns to us, "like a normal old clock."
"Why is this wizard obsessed with clocks?" Steve furrows his brows. "Maybe he's, like, a clockmaker or something?"
"Think you cracked a case, Steve," Dustin says sarcastically. I snigger at his comment with a smile on my face. This makes Steve give me a shy smile back.
"The answers are here," Nancy tells us. "Everyone stay in groups of two. Robin, upstairs." Nancy and Robin leave. Max and Lucas turn left, leaving Dustin, Steve, and I.
"Well, you two can figure that out, but I'm going alone," I shoot the a two finger salute and walk upstairs. I could hear those two bickering before I even reach the top of the stairs.
I walk into what looks to be a bathroom. It was pretty worn down and rust took over the shower and sink. There was a stain glass window near the ceiling. I smile at it. I can tell this house was beautiful before the tragedy.
I move the shower curtain to reveal bugs. My stomach churns and my face grimaces in disgust. I see drags of brown all around the bathtub. It looks like it could be blood, but I am unsure.
Seeing nothing that can lead us to clear answers I walk out the bathroom.
I shudder as I walk to a room that Steve suddenly comes crashing out of and into my arms. "Whoa," I grunt from the amount of force he put on me.
"A spider," he panics. "A black widow to be specific. Don't go in there." He shuts the door.
"Do you want me to get the spider off of you?" I chuckle.
"Ye-yeah, please, could you do that?" He breathes and I turn him around.
I start plucking what felt like a thousand cobwebs out of his hair, "oh my God, Steve." I groan.
"What?"
"There's so many cobwebs." I make a stressed out face.
"Well, maybe when we're done with this Vecna crap we could go on a date?" Steve asks, with his face facing away from me.
"That's sounds lovely, Steve," I smile with a little laugh escaping my lips.
"I found it," I smirk.
"Get it. Get it. Get it," he panics with a small voice.
I flinch as I reach my hand out. I pull my hand back and fourth before I gain the courage to grab it and chuck it across the house. "Okay, got it."
He turns around and looks down at me with his puppy dog eyes. I shiver from me just touching a spider. "Steve, that was terrifying." I say with my shaky hands wide open and near my face.
He grabs my hands gently to stop my hands from shaking, "there probably in your hair now."
"Shut up, don't say that," I give him a serious yet playful look.
"Well, I guess we should get back to looking around," Steve says, not taking his eyes off of me.
"Yeah," I nod my head.
" "the obvious things are not what people observe." Oh—erm- don't observe or-" Steve stammers.
"Sherlock Holmes?" I give him confused look, but with a smile plastered all over my face.
"Yeah," he answers with a light voice.
"You're such a dork, Steve," I playfully shove him and walk passed him.
He rushes after me, "what? Me? No."
"Yes. You are," I laugh.
"Guys?!" Max yells for us.
We all rush downstairs to see Max and Lucas staring at the chandelier. It was flickering. "It's like the Christmas light," I gasp.
"Christmas light?" Robin asks me.
"Yeah, when Will was in the Upside Down. The lights— they came alive. His mom set up Christmas lights all over her house and that's—" I point the flickering chandelier. "Thats exactly what happened."
"Vecna's here," Lucas mutters. "In this house. Just on the other side."
"I think he just left the room," Robin says, as the chandelier light fades.
"Did he hear us?" Max asks me.
"Can he see us?" Steve asks.
"No, but he can hear us. Max, headphones," I alert Max. Max puts them on swiftly.
"Everyone, turn off your flashlights and spread out," Nancy orders.
We do as she says except for Steve. "We're not gonna be able to see if we turn off our flash.....lights." I grab his flashlight and turn it off.
"Here," I give it back. "Spread out," I walk in a different room. We all move around different rooms of the house.
"Guys I found him!" Robin yells. "I have him!"
We all rush over to Robin when the flashlight fades off. "I had him."
Then, Steve's flashlight glows, "whoa, he moving! Moving moving." Steve walks, following the light. We all follow him. His flashlight turns off. "Shit. I lost him."
"No. You didn't ," Max shows us her flashlight. We then start following her.
"It's an attic. Of course it's an attic," Robin panics to herself.
"Hold up, guys. What if he's leading us to a trap?" Dustin alerts us. We all ignore him and continue to walk further into the attic.
A single light bulb starts glowing. Illuminating the small middle of the room. "Flashlights," Dustin tells us.
We all look down to see our flashlights glowing. We point them up facing the single light bulb.
"Okay, what's happening?" Steve asks.
Our lights shine bright. When I mean bright, I mean bright. They start to shine so bright the glass protecting the light shatters. We all gasp covering our faces from the glass as the single lightbulb lighting up the attic explodes.
"Let's- let's get out of here," I gasp.
"I agree," Dustin breathes.
