Chapter 5 [Proofed]

Chapter 5:

Dustin wanted to store the dead demo-dog in the fridge so I was just watching Steve carry it. If I'm being honest it's pretty amusing. Dustin finished taking out all the food, "this should be enough room."

"Is this really necessary?" Steve questions.

"Yeah Dustin, is it?" I complain.

"Yes, it is, okay? This is a ground breaking scientific discovery. We can't just Burn it like some common mammal, okay? It's not a dog," Dustin snaps.

"Alright, alright, alright," Steve mutters. "But you're explaining this to Mrs. Byers, alright?" Steve attempts to shove it in the fridge. "A little help."

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Get the door, man."

"Alright, I got the door."

"Ew. Jesus," Steve slams the fridge.

I snort, "you guys are dorks, imma go talk with Max."

As I am walking away all I can hear is, "what's her problem?"

"I can hear you!" I shout.

"Oh shit," I hear Dustin mutter. 

I smile and shake my head until I walk in to see Lucas and Mike arguing. "Woah, what is going on here?"

"He is so worried about El. I am just trying to tell him to quit worrying!"

"I should worry!" Mike yells. "You weren't in there okay Lucas? That place is storming with dogs."

"Demo-dogs!" Dustin yells.

Steve and Dustin come walking in here. "Listen, dude, a coach calls a play in a game, bottom line, you execute it."

I look at him like he's crazy, "Steve this isn't PE."

"See, she gets it," Mike ushers his hand towards me. "We're not even in the game we're on the bench."

"Ri-ght, so my point is... right yeah we're on the bench, so uh, there's nothing we can do."

"That's not entirely true," Dustin says. "I mean these demo-dogs, they have a hive mind. When they ran away from the bus, they were called away."

"So, if we get their attention.." Lucas starts.

"Maybe we can draw them from the lab," Max continues.

"And clear a path to the gate," Mike finishes.

"Yeah, and then we all die," Steve throws his hands up.

"You got a point there," I say.

"That's one point of view," Dustin says, walking away.

"No, that's not a point of view man. That's a fact." Lightens his voice.

"I got it!" Mike rushes towards the other room.
