----

Reyna was an intimidating woman, anyone could see that. Her commanding demeanour and demanding presence when she walked into any room could deter any person from questioning her. She was more than aware of the effect she had on other people and she found it incredibly amusing.

You were different from the others though, she noticed that fairly quickly. Instead of cowering from her, you would just blush and turn away quickly, making some excuse why you had to leave whenever she seemed like she was going to talk to you. You wanted to speak to her, that much was certain. She made it her personal goal to tease you as much as she could at first.

She would sit down near you in the commons area every chance she got. Each time you would start fidgeting nervously before quickly stating that you had to leave and speak to Sage or Brimstone or whoever was more convenient at the time.

She didn't relent, even on missions. Sometimes she would take down an entire enemy team and then look at you with a wink, saying something along the lines of "that was just for you, cariño." She revelled in the way that you blush and stutter out some form of a thank you. The best was when she would compliment you on something. The way you would flounder and flush, quickly leaving the moment you were able.

She knew that you had feelings for her. It was so glaringly obvious. And that's what made it so fun to tease you. She wanted you to say something to her first, but she also couldn't resist toying with you a little bit first.

But after a few more weeks of the same game, she finally has enough and decides to take pity on you.

--

"Y/n, excellent work out there today. Such a performance, one might think you were after my own heart," she teases, getting incredibly close to you. You can feel the warmth radiating from your face as the proximity and the flattery.

"Thank you," you manage to get out, your voice small.

"I'll be honest," she starts, pressing her hand against the wall beside your head and leaning against it. "I've noticed the way you stare at me." She smirks at you, the look in her eyes is the only thing saving you from thinking that you have somehow upset her.

"Oh? I didn't think I- I mean I didn't mean-" you begin to make a feeble attempt to explain yourself before she interrupts you.

"No need to explain yourself. I know, I'm quite distracting," she continues to tease you, leaning closer. As much as you want to duck away from her and run, you can't help but remain in her gaze. "I almost thought you weren't interested," she muses, and you feel your heart stop for a moment.

"What?" You say, dumbfounded. There was no way you were that obvious, was there?

She laughs. "You seem to think I wouldn't catch on to the way you swoon whenever I so much as look at you. Don't worry, I find it quite entertaining. You're very cute, you know." There's no way that she can't see the blush on your face as she continues. "But even I tire of teasing eventually; so I must ask, y/n, would you like to join me for dinner tonight?"

You blank for a second. You had honestly thought she was going to turn you down, but here she was, clearly returning your feelings and asking you out.

"Of course," you squeak. "That would be nice."

She laughs again and leans back, taking her hand from its place on the wall beside you. She brushes her fingers along your cheek for a second as she moves her hand and you feel your heart flutter.

"I'll pick you up tonight at six." She walks away, and you stay pressed against the wall as you watch her.

When she's gone, you take a deep breath. You really would have said something far earlier if you knew it was going to go this well.
