Reyna never stops looking for you.

It's years before you see her again... but you aren't sure whether she's the same anymore.

When you met Zyanya, you knew she was the one. The matching tattoos on your hand were a clear indication of your shared destiny. She was always ambitious with a streak for being cruel to those who deserved it, but with you? With you she was soft. She would do anything to keep you safe and protect you from the world around you. You loved her with your whole heart, and she loved you with all of hers.

That was why when she lost you as the world devolved into the temporary chaos that followed the first light she was beside herself. Everything moved so quickly, and as the world struggled to keep up with the changes that radianite brought, the two of you got caught in separate waves.

You didn't see when she got her powers, the way her violence and cruelty grew as she searched for you. She's thankful for that, she wouldn't want you to see such things.

The possibility that something could have happened to you while you were gone was something she never wanted to consider. She believed whole-heartedly that the two of you would be together again soon, and that you would be fine. You had to be okay because if you weren't she wasn't sure what she would do.

Even when she joined the Valorant Protocol, she never gave up hope of finding you. Holding onto the hope that she would find you again.

Reyna wipes the blood from her face. "Pathetic," she whispers about the dead mirror agent on the ground. They're getting easier and easier to kill, especially the humans held back by their lack of radiance. She hears someone say something about regrouping in her earpiece, but she ignores it. She doesn't have to worry about fighting like a coward and hiding in the back. She continues to stalk through the streets. Distracted for a moment as she hears the distinct sound of a terrified, beating heart and smiles.

You cover your mouth, doing your best to cover the sound of your breaths as your heart continues to beat rapidly.

You were out later than usual, work taking a bit longer to complete. You didn't know the place too well yet. Your work often sent you to various places, so you were never in one place for long, staying in hotels for a lot of the past few years. You decided to take a different route home than usual because it's a bit faster, but you realize how much of a mistake that ends up being as you hear gunshots. You're running to find a place to hide because you know there's no way you can outrun whatever is about to happen. You find a place that's decently hidden in an alleyway near a large shipment container. In the distance, you can hear a sadistic laugh that sounds familiar in a way that you can't quite place.

Whatever is going on, you know that it ends swiftly. A single gunshot rings out, followed by a thud as a body drops to the ground. You swallow down a noise of panic.

"Pathetic," you hear someone say, voice full of contempt. It's the same voice you heard laughing earlier, but this time you think you understand the familiarity. Your stomach twists in fear, and you stop breathing altogether for a moment.

That couldn't be her. Sure, she could be mean, but she didn't... she wasn't like that. No. You weren't going to get your hopes up like that. It's been years. Surely, if the two of you really were soulmates and she was still alive, you would have found each other again by now.

Whoever it is, they start walking closer, and you debate whether or not you should run. Whoever it is will easily catch up to you. They clearly have a gun, but it's just as risky to stay put. They're getting closer. You decide to risk it. You know the streets well... well enough... hopefully. You take off in a sprint. You hear them shout something at you after a moment, but you can't hear them over the sound of your own heart in your ears and the rush of your feet hitting the pavement. You just keep running and hope they aren't behind you because you don't look back.

Just your luck that after a few minutes of running, you turn down a street, only to find a dead end.

"Shit." You don't turn around. You know that the person from earlier is there. "Listen, I don't know what you want, but you don't have to worry. I didn't see anything. Please, just let me go and I won't say a thing," you start begging as the footsteps get closer. They don't say anything, and all you feel is dread.

"Y/n, cariño, you're alive... you're okay."

You freeze. You don't want to turn around. You aren't sure if you're glad it's actually her or not.

" Zyanya?" You start, voice small.

You turn to face her and you're immediately taken aback. Her eyes are a bright violet, glowing the same as her chest. There's blood on her face, you can only assume that the dark streak on the side of her cheek is from the person you heard her kill earlier. Despite how threatening she looks, the smile she has as she stares at you is genuine and full of relief. You feel confused.

As she takes a step forward, you take a step back, clearly scared. She looks hurt for a moment.

"You killed them." It's taking every bit of restraint to stop yourself from running into her arms. To go against your heart that doesn't want to think rationally. You missed her so much, and she's right here in front of you. Why are you scared of her?

"Yes, I did, but I can explain everything. You know I would never hurt you, y/n. I've missed you so much." She sounds so honest, and soft like she always was with you. This time when she walks toward you, you don't shy away. She lifts her hand to your face slowly, and you can't help but lean into the touch as she places her palm on the side of your face.

"I thought I was never going to see you again," you whisper, eyes getting teary, and she gently shushes you.

"It's okay, corazón, I'm here now." She pulls you against her, wrapping her arms around you tightly. You cry into her shoulder, the years of being alone finally setting in. She runs her fingers through your hair, pressing kisses to the crown of your head. "I love you, y/n. I never stopped looking for you," she says into your hair. "I'm sorry, cariño, I can explain everything. I'm not going to leave you again." Reyna ignores the voice in her earpiece, asking her where she is. They can wait. Right now, all she cares about is you.

When you finally let go of her and lean back, she kisses you. A kiss that makes up for the years of kisses that the two of you missed.

"I'm busy, I'll catch up later," she says in response to another demand for her location. You look at her confused, but she just shakes her head and says that she'll explain it when the two of you are home. You guide her to the hotel you had been staying at that your work had booked for you to stay. It might not be 'home' exactly, but it didn't matter because you were there with Zyanya, and anywhere you were with her could be 'home' to you.
