When Brimstone asked you to join the VP, you weren't sure what to think of it at first. You can't say that you regret it at all though, especially after meeting Sage.

She was one of the nicest agents you had met, and the two of you got along perfectly. So well, that it was not a surprise that Brimstone eventually caught on to your very apparent crush. He teased you about it relentlessly.

"I'm organizing the training schedules for the next week. Don't worry, y/n, I've already got you assigned with Sage," he says with a smile, ready for your swat at his arm.

"Liam," you groan in annoyance.

"You know you could just tell her how you feel, would solve a lot of your problems a lot quicker." He says it like confessing your love is a simple thing to do. Like putting yourself into such a vulnerable position is easy.

He looks like he's about to say something else when Sage herself walks in.

"Goodmorning, Brimstone. Good Morning, y/n, you're looking lovely today. Did you sleep well?" You see Liam's shoulders shake slightly as he stifles a laugh and you resist the urge to glare at him.

"Thank you, Sage, I slept fine. Brimstone and I were just talking about you. He was telling me that the two of us are paired for this week's training." You swear you see her blush, but you shrug it off as just wishful thinking.

"That's great! I look forward to it, y/n," she says before she's walking back out of the room again. There's silence in the room once more and you wait a minute before turning to Brimstone.

"You're so annoying," you complain, no real anger in your voice.

"You know for someone that I have watched literally fight in wars, you are such a scaredy-cat. Did you see the way she looked at you? Come on, you gotta tell her."

"Liam, I swear-"

"Okay, okay, I'll lay off. But come on, you gotta admit it."

You walk away from him, face flushed as he laughs.

Brimstone watches as Sage stares at the clipboard in her hands, very clearly distracted by something. He follows her gaze across the room and gives an amused smile when he realizes that she's staring at you as you finish your workout routine.

"Sage, working hard or hardly working?" He says, walking over. She's immediately flustered, trying to collect her thoughts and come up with an excuse for why she had been standing there for minutes doing nothing but staring at you.

"Don't worry, your secret's safe with me," he assures with a grin. She's both relieved and concerned by this. Did he know? "You should talk to her after training, she was looking for you earlier." You weren't looking for her, but Sage doesn't have to know that. If Brimstone can push the two of you to talk more, then maybe one of you would finally get the courage to say something.

You throw your towel over your shoulder, hair still slightly damp as you leave the locker rooms. You stop almost immediately as you're met with Sage.

"Brimstone said you were looking for me. Did you need something?" She looks hopeful, and you look over to Brimstone who's looking over at the two of you. The moment you meet his eyes, he gives you a thumbs up before leaving the room. You make a mental note to talk to him later, with a few choice words in mind.

"Yeah, I was actually wondering if you wanted to-..." You stop, unsure of how to word this. Maybe Brimstone was right about the whole, 'just tell her what you feel' thing. You sigh. "Okay, I don't know how to say this, so I'm gonna get straight to the point. I really like you, Sage. Ever since I got here you've been such a light in my life, and I'm so thankful for that. I understand if you don't feel the same, and I won't be upset. I just wanted to tell you." You can feel the warmth in your face as you watch Sage's expression, looking for any sign of rejection. You're pleasantly surprised when she smiles, and reaches out for your hand, taking it in hers for a moment.

"Y/n, I feel the same way. I wanted to tell you, but I was worried about making you uncomfortable. Would you join me for dinner tonight?"

"It would be my pleasure," you answer with a smile.

"I will meet you then. I look forward to it." She lets go of your hand and turns to leave.

You can't believe how easy that was. You feel a hand clap you on the shoulder.

"Told you it was that simple," Brimstone is smiling.

"I cannot believe you," you start.

"Hey, it worked, didn't it? At least you actually said something, my next plan was to just make up a mission to send the two of you on together. Now, I don't have to do any work."

"You're such an ass." You don't mean it though. You're thankful that he pushed you to say something, and he knows that too. You look forward to the evening now, eager to see Sage again.
