The day that you agreed to go on a hike with Skye was perfect. The sun peeked through the sparse clouds in the sky as it steadily rose, ensuring it was just warm enough to be comfortable while still being cool enough to keep the heat from being unbearable. Skye had planned out everything. Where you guys were going, what trail you would be taking, what you would need, everything was packed and ready to go.

The two of you made your way towards the trail. It was a nice wooded area, the dense trees and foliage giving off a pleasant smell, and the distant sound of running water promised a lovely creek.

"Ready to head out?" Skye asks with a smile, turning back to you for a moment to see you nod before you both begin to walk down the dirt path. She's used to hikes like these, but she makes sure that she doesn't get too far ahead of you. When the path is wide enough, she reaches for your hand and happily leads you along.

"Wait, look at this, love," she says, stopping abruptly to kneel down carefully. You look over her shoulder and see that she's looking at what looks to be a vibrant blue butterfly. As its wings close methodically, you see that the other side is a light brown. "Don't see a whole lotta these around much, but they sure are pretty aren't they. It's a mountain blue butterfly, or a ulysses swallowtail."

You listen with a smile as Skye talks about the small creature. She knows so much about the wildlife and it's always so endearing to hear her talk about it so reverently.

"Very beautiful," you say, looking more at Skye than you are at the butterfly. You both watch as it lifts off from the branch it had been sitting on, and elegantly flies away.

She stops a few more times throughout the hike to point out some type of animal and gives a small explanation of what they're called or any fun facts about them. You listen to each word she says, looking over at her lovingly.

By midday you reach a small river. It isn't too deep, but deep enough that there's a bridge that goes over it, looking old and unkempt. Skye seems to sense your unease and offers you her hand which you gratefully accept as the two of you make your way over the water to the other side.

"How 'bout we stop for lunch, there's a nice spot not far from here." Skye says, stepping off of the path and into the woods beside it. You agree and follow behind, avoiding the roots that she warns you about. You come to a small clearing, far enough from the path that on the off chance anyone comes through they can't see you. The river is nearby, and the trees above provide a nice shade from the sun.

You take the blanket out of your backpack and spread it out on the ground while Skye gets the food and drinks.

The two of you sit and eat together, watching as the nearby wildlife goes by.

"Thank you for coming with me today, I hope you've had fun," Skye says as she rests her head on your shoulder, hand wrapping around to rest on your hip.

"It's been wonderful, Skye, I should be the one thanking you."

"I still had a bit of the hike left planned, but..." she trails off as her hand against your hip wanders up under the edge of your shirt, "we could take a break for awhile, what do you think?" She presses a kiss to your neck and you feel your face flush.

"I think I would like that." Your breath catches in your throat as Skye nips at your neck, smiling against the skin. "I would like that a lot."
