Married Before First Light Pt. 1 (Viper x Reader)

DESCRIPTION:

You married Sabine over ten years ago, and the two of you still love each other just as much as you did then.

When Jett and Phoenix find out about this, they are in shock and disbelief. Word spreads, and soon Raze and Killjoy are also in on the plan to prove if the two of you really are married.

You married Sabine long before radianite became an everyday concern. Before she worked with the VP, and long before she became so distant from the people around her. You were still a soft spot for her, nothing could change that. Despite everything that happened, she still looked at you like you hung the stars in the sky just for her.

With everyone else, however, she was Viper. She was hard edges and sharp corners. She was dangerous poisons and noxious fumes.

That's why when Jett and Phoenix found the small photo frame that held an old picture of the two of you on your wedding day they stared at each other in shock. They were not supposed to be in your office, and they both knew that. It was an accident, they swear. They had thought you were there and just walked in and curiosity got the better of them and suddenly they were looking at the pictures you had at the back of your office on the desk.

"Yo, Jett, look at this," Phoenix said, picking up the small frame and holding it out to her as she turned. "That's not actually her, is it?"

Jett stared at the image. That was Viper all right. It was Viper, and she was smiling. Smiling and wearing a pristine white dress, holding a large bouquet of flowers. Beside her was you, looking at her with such adoration.

"No way..." Jett shook her head. "Holy shit."

"I didn't even know y/n was married."

"What? They literally wear a wedding band?" Jett knew you were married, but she just didn't expect it to be to someone so... mean, for lack of a better word. Viper was so cold, and you just... weren't. At all.

"Whatever, that's not the point, y/n is married to Viper?"

Before either of them say anything more, they hear footsteps approach from down the hall. Immediately, they rush to put the photo frame back and look the least suspicious they can in a room they aren't supposed to be in in the first place.

You walk into your office, not expecting the two young radiants to be waiting for you inside. The three of you stare at each other for a moment, before you finally speak up as they clearly aren't going to.

"What are you two doing in here?" As much as you trust them, you start looking around to make sure they haven't gotten into anything they weren't supposed to.

"Sorry, we were just waiting to ask you about something, but you look a little busy so we can come by again later! Jett says, ushering Phoenix out in front of her. You stare at them confused. "We didn't mean to intrude, sorry!"

You shake your head. You didn't understand them sometimes, but clearly, they meant no harm so you got back to work.

"Maybe it wasn't her, maybe that was just someone who looked like her," Phoenix suggested as the two of them walked towards the common area.

"No, that was definitely her."

"I've never seen her smile like that before, I don't even think I've seen her smile at all."

"Who are you talking about?" The two of them froze as Killjoy looked over at them from one of the couches, Raze beside her.

"Nothing, don't worry about it," Jett says before Phoenix speaks after her.

"Viper and y/n are married." Jett stares at him before putting her head in her hands. "What? They would have found out eventually anyways," he defends.

"What?" Killjoy and Raze look just as shocked as the other two did when they found the photo.

"I didn't even know they were married... and to Viper?" Raze says incredulously.

"That's what I said!" Phoenix exclaims as Jett shushes him.

While the four of them now talk amongst themselves, debating whether or not it could be true, Omen walks into the room. He doesn't pay too much attention to them until Killjoy calls him over.

"Omen, you know Viper better than us, is she actually married?" Killjoy asks, determined to figure this out once and for all.

"Sabine? Yes, to y/n. Why?" He doesn't seem to share any of the same reservations about this information that the others do.

"But they're still married? Like she actually likes them?"

"Yes... she cares about them very deeply. Though I would think that 'like' is perhaps too weak of a word for people who have been married for over ten years." They all stare at him in shock. "Why are you all surprised? It was never a secret." He was right, none of them had ever asked. They just didn't think that Viper was capable of actually liking someone like that. He leaves them to their frantic hushed whispers, confused at how they managed to go this long without finding out.

Sure enough, now that they knew, they noticed. The way that the two of you would talk together while you walked. How Viper would actually smile at something you said. Once, Killjoy even saw her press a quick kiss to your cheek, only for everyone to not believe her and deny that Viper would do such a thing.
