Brendan POV

Well we've done it! While we didn't get that #1 Seed, we locked up #2, but our recent win over Regional has us at the top of everyone's lists to win the conference championship game. It's been a long season, but finally we've got a shot to show just how good we can be. I walked in to team practice and posted the bracket on the wall while the team watched.

Greater Islands Conference Championship Tournament

#1 Alola Regional
Vs.
#4 Malie City University

#2 Pasio University
Vs.
#3 The Isle of Armor University

The whole team was gathered and clapped as I posted it. I smiled, "Yep. That's what we did. I couldn't be prouder of you guys and how you've fought this year. It took superhuman strength from each and every one of us to get here, and this isn't the end. Not close." I stood around and May sighed, "I wish finals weren't right after the tournament..." Selene patted her shoulder, "It's fiiine. We can study together after we get that trophy." I nodded, "Good call Selene. You guys are all good.... Ah... Good enough as it comes to grades so far, so as long as you keep trying I'm sure you'll all be fine." I pointed, "Alright. We lost to Isle of Armor earlier this year. Not gonna happen again, let's watch some film, break it down and get our attack plan together for next time." The team nodded and then got to work. Selene approached me, "You know. You really should block out the media Brendo. You've done nothing short of an incredible job man. I don't know if anyone else on this team could've led us though that storm. And especially with the results you've managed to help us get." I smiled, "Thanks Selene." She nodded and then went to practice.

I walked back to the dorm and began to watch more film with Lucas. He's always been good with helping me form gameplans. I looked at him, "What do you see?" He peered at the screen and then to me, "I see nothing but a team on a flight home. They don't have what it takes to beat you guys." I tilted my head, "But they Did-" he waved his arm, "You and I both know that was a fluke. Look. You and everyone else were half in at that point and you know it. Now though, you, Dawn, Ethan, and I betcha that Selene would destroy them." I raised my eyebrows, "Oh? Do tell." He pointed, "This team is Uber aggressive. Great strategy, hard to beat. Problem is, the talent we have here can beat them at their own game, and when the bully gets bullied they fold." I chuckled, "That's one way to put it."

After that was all done I got a call from Calem, a rare occasion for sure, but a welcome one. I picked up, "Calem! Hey! I saw the Driftveil game, you've really done something there." He responded, "Well thank you, I actually wanted to call you and congratulate you on the season you put together. Truly special man." I chuckled, "Thanks, but you wouldn't call me just to talk about that. I know you better." Calem scratched his head, "Yeah, I've got a few things actually, one of these I'm gonna have to have you ask May for me." I nodded, "Ok. Shoot." He began, "So first, Uh, Elio promised you he'd be back if what he told me is true. And... He's determined, he said he'll spend another week here, and meet up with you guys when you go to Alola for the tournament." I held out my hand, "Alright! Awesome! That's- great to hear! How's he look?" Calem scratched his head again, "Well I can't say I've seen him battle in a while. He's been watching film and training, but no scrimmages for a while." I sighed, "Did he do poorly in the last scrimmage he was in?" Calem nodded solemnly, "Yeah. But he tells me he feels ready to conquer, and he's talking about Elio 4.0 already. Guess we'll see." I sighed, "Well hey, you guys have Nimbasa tomorrow, you guys think you can win it?" He nodded, "Yeah I think so. I've got a plan. But the other question I wanted to ask you- May used to take care of Serena when she got super sick, can you ask her what medicine and stuff she usually got?" I nodded, "Yeah. Is she getting sick again?" Calem sighed, "I think so. She doesn't want to admit it, but she's been really moody recently, and usually she only gets short with me when she's overwhelmed or sick so... Yeah I think she's gonna be under it here soon." I looked away, "Got it... I'll text you the stuff when I get back to May on it." Calem thanked me and then hung up.

I walked over to May's apartment and knocked on the door. Luckily she answered and saw me, "Brendan! It's kinda late, what's up?" I smiled, "Calem wanted me to ask you what kinds of medicine you got for Serena when she got sick. She seems to be feeling under weather again." May groaned, "And she swore it was over... Poor girl. Anyway I'll get the list and send it to you to send to them." I thanked her and then shook my head, "Oh. Hey... uh... Would you like to do some stargazing tonight as well?" I heard Selene's voice taunt inside, "OoOooO, how romantic." I chuckled, "Shut up!" May giggled, "That's a yes from me though. Thanks for the invite."
She met me at the door and we interlocked our hands and walked out to a nearby hill.

We laid down and stared at the sky, May asked me, "So. What's been on your mind recently?" I shrugged, "Lots of things. I've been really worried about all this stuff, I don't know if I've ever seen our team want to beat anyone as bad as they want to beat Paulo. I mean Matisse and Rich were pretty hated don't get me wrong, but Paulo has seemingly nothing but hate for us. And I think the guys are starting to return those feelings. May chuckled, "Yeah Dawn hates him. Selene hates him with a passion. And I guess you would too huh?" I shrugged, "I mean, yeah. He provoked Selene who had been having a hard enough time anyway. It's just low." May nodded and clicked her tongue, "You hear they suspect there was someone behind the Groudon attack?" I looked at her, "Really? Magma or Aqua resurfacing?" She shook her head, "No. They're all civilian now. They know better than to fiddle with legendary Pokemon." I sighed, "Some people just never want peace. I really hope that this doesn't get worse. As selfish as it might be I really want to keep battling for fun." May looked at me, "I wouldn't call that selfish. It isn't really our job to stop these people. The international police will have it handled I'm sure." I looked up, "I hope so."

The next day I woke up and opened my phone. It's match day between Mistralton and Nimbasa. This one is gonna be a barn burner, I'm definitely gonna watch. Good luck Calem.
