Calem POV

The commentator boomed out, "That is it! The Aviators will take the game 6-4 behind monstrous performances from Calem and Ricard!" I chest bumped Ricard, we each had 2 points today, and while we stumbled last time out, the team refocused and we're headed to the break with a 4-3 record.

So the way the playoffs work in the pros is kinda complicated. Let me break it down for ya cus I'm trying to figure it out myself. So if you get anywhere from 5th to 8th (That's us right now) you go to a Play-in tournament. It would look like this.

#5 Driftveil Outlaws Vs #8 Aspertia
#6 Lacunosa Spears Vs #7 Mistralton

Then the two winners would go in to the playoff bracket, which if things play out how they should would look like this.

#5 Driftveil Outlaws Vs #4 Castellia Sky.
#6 Lacunosa Spears Vs #3 Accumula

Then the winners of those go in to the semifinals against the top 2 teams, which would look like...

#4 Castellia Skyscrapers Vs #1 Virbank
#3 Accumula Titans Vs #2 Nimbasa Bolts

Then the winners of those matches play for the championship. It's a lot, I know, but people love watching the pro games and having a lot of playoff games makes them a lot of money. Plus we play less than half the matches a college team plays so it's not that bad in context. What we want is to take the championship, so we can go to the Champion's Tournament which has the 8 championship teams, 1 from each region, play each other for the World Championship. But I'll get into that someday later, maybe this year, maybe next year, maybe never, I don't know.

I was walking out of the stadium when I was faced by some very familiar people. This came as quite a shock to me, as they've never wanted to see me much in the past. That would be my parents. I stared at them, "Hey. What are you guys doing here?" My Dad looked gruff as ever, and my mom was dressed as rich as she was. He replied, "I came to see if it was true, that you've got yourself a fiance and a good job." I scoffed, "Right. As usual you've come to see if I'm successful, not to see me for me." He seemed a little put off by that and mom interceded, "Honey, I wanted to see you battle... I've never seen you battle in the pros in person, but the people here say you're the best... Maybe in the whole league!" I shrugged, "That's for them to debate. Appreciate the support though." I turned around and began to walk away, my Dad yelled back, "Hey, wait." I turned back towards them. He looked at me, "You like life here?" I raised an eyebrow, "Yes. I do." He scratched his head, "I suppose that's all that matters. Your Mom tells me I need to be less harsh on you." I shrugged, "Appreciate the sentiment." I walked away again. That was the most positive interaction I've had with my parents in a long time. Say what you will about how cold I am to them, but I don't care for how they treated me. Serena showed me what it's like to have a genuine relationship. Serena's mom, Grace, also showed me how a parent should be towards their child. A child isn't an extension of you and your legacy, they are someone you provide for, encourage, and guide as they do their best in life. If I ever have a child, I'll never prepare them only for success. I want them to be happy. Having a lot of money makes you realize that there's more to life than that.

Dusty and I were walking back to our homes, and decided to talk for a little bit. Dusty was on his phone and raised his eyebrows after reading an article, "Geez. Cobalion went rogue today and attacked a few random trainers. This is getting weird man." I looked at him, "Huh? Isn't Cobalion all about justice?" He shrugged, "Well yeah, that's what's weird about it. I mean, don't you just find it weird that all these things have been happening with legendaries recently. The Kyogre attack, Zapdos attacked a few about a month ago... Entei did as well... And now Cobalion. Something just doesn't add up." I scratched my chin, "Yeah. Now that you mentioned it, there was no way the Kyogre attacked for no reason right? Something is off here... Hopefully someone finds out why soon." Dusty sighed, "Stressful stuff.... Anyways, what you got planned for today." I had a sharp realization and facepalned, "Oh! I gotta help Serena move out." He tilted his head, "Huh? What do you mean?" I chuckled, "Oh, we have separate places to live in Alola. We figured it'd make the wedding have a lot more weight if we go do our own things for a while." Dusty smiled, "Well that sounds nice. Where are you guys both staying?" I chuckled, "She'll be staying with some friends of ours Mom. As for me, I'll be with one of my friend Elio's friends, Hau, his name is." Dusty thought, "Wow. Never met the people, and you're staying with them?" I smiled, "Yeah. I trust them." He shrugged, "alright." We walked for a while longer before I got to my house and we said our goodbyes. I swung the door open and saw Serena stuffing some snacks in to a bag, she saw me at the door, "Hey! Good job today Calem. I'm just packing some snacks." I looked over to her, "Thanks Sere! Uh... Do you mind if I have the frozen bread sticks?" She looked at them and then put them back in the freezer, "Sure! I've got more than enough packed for myself... Eheheh..." I walked over and hugged her, "Hey, just to think, a few weeks from now we're getting married!" She smiled, "Yeah! But..." She dropped her head, "I'm really gonna miss you..." I put my hands on her shoulders, "Don't! You and Celeste will have a great time. She's a lot of fun, she'll show you the best places in Alola!" She smiled, "Alright. I'm gonna try to enjoy it." I smiled ,"Yes! Then remember, we have 2 weeks together in Lental after that." She looked at the calendar, "From December 19th to January 2nd... We're spending all the holidays there, huh?" I nodded, "Yes! I wonder how they celebrate there? Should be a good time." Serena thought for a moment then asked, "Wonder if they have any opportunities for music in Alola? That would be fun." I shuddered at the thought of even being close to that outgoing and said to Serena, "The fact that you said that makes me truly believe that opposites attract." We shared a laugh and then continued packing.
