"Ah damnit," Tori sighed. She held up a flat ball. "Someone's been shooting a little too hard." We both looked at Jordan, who smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, that might have been me." Tori raised her brows, and Jordan sighed. "You should control yourself a bit," she said.
"Instead of worrying about what I cannot control, I shift my energy to what I can create., Victoria." I tilted my head, not sure where he got the quote from.
"Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart, it's a hidden gem. I... borrowed it from the hospital library last time." I frowned. "Borrowed?" He smiled innocently. "I am planning on returning it, you know. Like, in twenty years?" He walked to his back and pulled out a beautiful blue book, covered with golden flowers and curls.
"You can't blame me, that'll look beautiful on the shelves of my future library." I grinned, what a guy.
"I'll keep my mouth shut, Jor," I said with a wink. He smiled and looked away, with his cheeks a bit pink. So cute.
That evening, in the dressing room, there was a fruit basket. It didn't take us long to find out who'd sent it, a T was carved into every red apple.
"Thousand yen for whoever dares to take a bite," Kevin said.
"Honestly Kev, why are we still friends?" I asked, and I stuck my tongue out. I pulled out the usual envelope.
"You better watch him closely, or he might kill someone. -T," I read out loud. It was very obvious who he was talking about.
"Well this is a pathetic letter, the dude's losing his cool," Bobby frowned. I nodded. Sure, Jordan was ridiculously strong right now, but it's not as if he had become a murderer.
"Don't worry guys, I promise I won't kill you," Jordan said dryly, followed by a smile. And that was it, we all continued with our day.
"Rhona," a male voice said in the distance, waking me up. It didn't really get through to me. "Rhona Ivette DiLauris." My heart skipped a few beats, and when I opened my eyes, I looked straight into a pair of grayish ones.
"The fuck?" Gazel shushed me, but I was planning on screaming. "I need to tell you something."
"Well I'm sure there are better ways than breaking into my bedroom," I hissed. The alien opened his mouth, but it seemed as if he didn't know what to say himself.
"Will he recover?" Gazel nodded at the picture of Jordan and me on my nightstand. I furrowed my eyebrows. "Yeah, probably," I answered after a few seconds. I was overwhelmed, after all, an alien had broken into my room. "Just needed to know, it's important information to me. And my team of course."
"So, what did you want to tell me?" The boy bit his lip, looked around if someone was around, and then glared at me again. "If you and your team ever cause trouble to my friend, I'll come for you, and all your friends."
"Who would that be?" But he'd disappeared with his football. Why did he come to me, and not Mark or Jordan?
--
"... And then he vanished." The team listened to the story confused during breakfast. "But aren't there better ways to talk?" I nodded heavily. "That's exactly what I said!"
"Because he couldn't." We looked at Jordan, who hadn't spoken much yet. There was a lost look on his face. "Maybe he left in secret," he continued quietly, "because this doesn't sound like a typical Alius action." We agreed. "But I'm not sure though. At Alius Academy, there is no such thing as a genuine friendship, it could be a trick." Mark nodded. "I suppose so," he mumbled. "We'll just forget about it. Besides, I can't really imagine Gazel socializing with others."
Xene had been irritating Gazel a bit lately. He felt like he was being spied on by Gaia's captain. As if he wouldn't notice, what a moron.
"You don't have to sneak around me, you know," Gazel told Xene while he walked through the hallways, not even looking behind him. He was surprised that the boy didn't take his strong senses into consideration, even Torch thought about them. But then again, the redhead could feel his presence too. 'Everything good about life freezes when you come close, that's how I know,' Torch taunted when Gazel asked about it at a weak moment.
He heard Xene's loud footsteps. "Fine." They walked next to each other in silence. "You're getting on my nerves, little Red." The boy stopped.
"What did you just call me?" Gazel smirked without looking behind him. "Well, it's not that good of a color. Looks a bit washed-out, especially with that skin tone of yours." The reflection of the windows showed Xene's fury, and Gazel was barely keeping it together.
"You brat, don't talk to me like that," he snapped. Gazel smirked. "Do think your plans through before you spy on someone next time. I don't know what you're so obsessed about."
"I saw you and Torch play Basketball." Gazel already suspected that Gaia had something to do with the microphone that was turned on. "Why do you care? We were testing our skills." Xene caught up with Gazel again and watched him from the corners of his eyes.
"Why? The matches will determine that." The white-haired alien shrugged. "It never hurts to test some new stuff. Besides, I think Torch would go mad if he had to repeat the usual routine for another month."
"Why don't you just stick to your football?" Gazel grinned at Xene, who furrowed his brows. "What's the fun of that? You should be grateful, really. Torch was overestimating himself, I dragged that mentality down a bit." Not that I won, Gazel thought by himself.
Xene clenched his jaws. "This whole thing isn't about fun, Gazel." Gazel rolled his eyes. "I know that very well."
They reached the Diamond Dust training base.
"Have a good day, Xene." He looked at the alien, who looked a bit lost. "I have some advice for you. Instead of watching others play differently, you should try it yourself. What you do, doesn't matter. If changing your routine helps, just do it. Bye, Poppy."
Then he closed the door.
