"Are you sure this is it?"
Mark nodded. "He said, go down the stairs, cross the fourth hallway, and then there should be a door to another stairway up."
"But Mark, this is a broom closet." The captain only smiled at us. "I know it's here, I followed his exact instructions." He started to throw the buckets and mops out, causing way too much noise. "Maybe there's a secret door," he mumbled to himself. I stuffed myself in the closet together with Mark and Nathan to search, just to be sure but there was no door.
"Face it, Evans, you've taken the wrong hallway," Nelly said annoyed, "I told you that we were only at the third one." I nodded. "Nelly is right Markie, you shouldn't have chosen this one." The manager looked at me furiously, I swore I saw some steam coming out of her eyes.
"You agreed with him, you said you'd cut off your own arm if this wasn't the one!"
"Shhh," Mark said to the girl, "you can't make this much noise. The aliens might hear you." We all sweatdropped. "We should probably leave this place, I'm sure that there are people on their way." We turned around to leave, but then we saw a group of guards marching through the main hallway and jumped back.
"That's what happens when you throw stuff and yell," Celia hissed at Mark and Nelly. Mark opened his mouth to say something back, but then we heard more footsteps.
"They have to be here somewhere," I heard a familiar voice say, "we have to find the little humans." We all froze.
"Diam, that traitor" Kevin grunted. I dropped my shoulders, we trusted the wrong person.
"Are you sure that this is a good idea?" The person who spoke sounded like the purple-haired girl. "Pandora please, trust me on this one." One of the aliens sighed. "Who says that they even found Janus?"
"Don't worry, I gave Raimon clear instructions. There is no way that they're in the wrong place." Nathan snorted when he tried to control his laughter, and the steps stopped. We ducked away just in time, but not before I had punched Nathan.
"Evans?" We heard Diam ask. They came closer and my heart was beating faster than ever. I felt something wet on my shirt, and when I looked to my left, I saw it was Jack his sweat. I couldn't blame the guy though. Even the usually calm Jude was trembling. We pressed ourselves as close to the wall as possible, and after a minute or so we heard the team leave. I sighed relieved.
"Well that was nerve-wracking, don't you think," Nathan laughed with a shaking voice. "Who's fault was that?" Kevin asked annoyed, ready to yell at Nathan for a minute long. "Let's focus on the main goal Kevin, then you can beat Nathan up," Mark quickly said. I hummed in agreement. "Now let's go. And I will tell us the way this time, understood?" Sylvia glared at Nelly and Mark until they agreed. And that was how we finally found a huge, metal door.
We looked at the peculiar door. The doorknob had the shape of a ship's steering wheel.
"Well this is all very fancy and dangerous, don't you think?"
The team ignored my comment and tried to turn the wheel. The problem was, it didn't move an inch. There was no place to fill in a code, or numbers on the wheel like in a safe, nothing.
"Great, so what now?" Shawn looked at the middle of the doorknob. "Is that a button?" Mark smiled. "Great work Shawn!" And before discussing it, he pressed it. I looked around, expecting aliens to attack us, but there was nothing. At least, not the first ten seconds.
The door slowly moved open and I screamed in happiness. The scream didn't last long though, something shot me in the face with incredible power. I fell on my butt with a groan, and a second later I felt a sharp pain in my mouth and on my nose. Nathan dragged me away from the door without giving me the chance to stand up myself, and then I saw why: There were robots shooting balls at us.
