The team and I watched how the Coach was calling someone.
"I don't even know who you are, why should I listen?" we overheard. She hummed a couple of times. "I see."
We looked at her, waiting for answers. "I just had an anonymous phone call, he or she claimed that Axel is on the island after all. The voice was distorted, so I do not know who this person was. They said that we should wait just a little longer, and then he'd return eventually." We all gasped.
"Eventually, it isn't really helpful," Jude stated, and I agreed. "Yeah, but we have to try," Mark said happily. "But Mike, we don't even know whoever called us," Jordan sighed. He was right, but still. What did we have to lose?
"We'll wait five days," coach Schriller decided. Five days of playing football with thirty degrees, yay. Normally I would've loved this island, but not when I had to sport.
And then, on the second day, friggin Torch showed up again, now back to his normal self.
"Morning Raimon, how's it going?" The alien cracked his shoulders. What was I thinking when I trusted him? "Torch," Kevin hissed. "Very well spotted, Dragonfly." The boy talked differently, almost as if he were teasing his friends. "I must say that you've impressed me guys and ladies, I almost want to join the team myself." Then he threw a football into Mark's hands. The alien's eyes wandered to Jordan.
"Ciao Jor, how have you been?" Jordan, to my surprise, rolled his eyes. "Claude I'm begging you, just let the Italian go."
Jordan turned towards the confused team. "So when he was ten, he found out that one of his biological grandmothers is Italian. After that, he decided that from now on, he'd be Italian."
"I am Italian, 12,5%."
We heard a bang on one of the pillars close to us, and Xavier appeared. As if the day wasn't fun enough, I thought by myself. For some reason, that guy always angered me.
"What's going on Torch? You're planning on joining the Raimon team, aren't you?" At first, I thought it was an act, but once I saw the fury in his eyes, and his clenched fists, I realized that he was completely convinced this story was real. It made Torch laugh.
"Xene, Xene, Xene. Always so suspicious. How can I prove you wrong?" Gaia's captain just smirked, and we sighed. "Alright, give us a few minutes and we'll play."
Torch grinned. "Like that would help. Prominence is gonna destroy you all, just watch."
I didn't feel very confident, especially since we had to play without our Shawn. We had become way too dependent on him in our strategies. Aphrodi did his best in replacing him, but their way of playing was completely different.
But we had to begin anyway, running away wasn't an option. I watched Torch, who was scanning the entire area around the field. It was as if he were searching for something. Oh well.
The whistle was blown, and the game started. It wasn't much different than any other game against a new Alius team, meaning it was terrible. They did their fire identity justice, with their energetic and explosive tricks and behavior.
I got knocked down soon, and I wasn't the only one. The pain in my legs was almost unbearable, and I had to drag myself around the field. I sighed relieved when I stood up again after a fall, only to be shot down a second later. I looked at Nathan who stood on hands and knees, panting like crazy. We made eye contact. "Third visit to the hospital," he managed to say before his hands couldn't keep him up anymore.
I turned around to lay on my back and looked right at Torch, who had a crazy grin on his face. He soon stopped looking at me, to stare at the sideline. What was he looking for?
