Khayr's POV.

It still feels surreal. The anticipated day for three years in senior secondary school is finally here. PROM.

Honestly, the way young folk like us look forward to prom is insane. The way the highschool folks of every highschool talk and dream about thiers, it's as if prom is thier wedding day, or prom is a festivity for going to paradise.

Students do not even look forward to Grad, where at least something tangible and helpful to one's future like thier graduation certificate and SSCE results and other prizes are collected, rather, they look forward to the glam, glittery, and disco of the prom hall as if thier lives depend on it.

And I'm honestly no different. Maybe not as much as a lot, but I'm really no different. I've seen the flashy prom pictures of our school seniors littering the Instagram streets, and seen my sister get ready for hers, therefore it's only natural that I'd want to get thesame experience right?

I tore my head out of my pillow and looked at the left hand side of my queen sized bed. I sighed dreamingly as I checked out my prom dress for the umpteenth time, which was laying gracefully on my bed. Since I recieved it yesterday from the courier service, I've been gawking at it and countlessly imagining myself in it, and it honestly feel like a dream that I'm wearing it today. I was totally in love with this green dress which I ordered from an ace clothing vendor on Instagram that I couldn't even hang it in my wardrobe. I draped it on the side of my bed and slept with it, like it's my husband.

As I got off the bed, I remembered how Sis Sabira romanticized her prom dress too. It was so beautiful and was of the color milk. She legit looked like a bride that day. She wore this dress only to prom and never wore it again, and it remains hung in her wardrobe like some national treasure.

Actually, I asked her to give it to me so I can wear it to my own prom, but she adamantly refused, saying she's only passing that dress on to her own daughter. I hope you now get how delusional folks of nowadays can get about prom right?

I wore my slippers and walked around my bed on to the window, in order to part the curtains. I was shocked to find out that the sun has risen already. I shot my eyes at the hanging wall clock in my room to see the time. 7.11am

"Shoot!" I cursed.

Why I'm flustered if you may ask?

I haven't prayed subh and the sun is already peeking out! I quickly shut back the curtains and ran off, into the bathroom.

"Ya Allah I'm sorry" I repeated as I performed ablution and ran back into the room to say my very late subh prayer.
After I finished praying, I wondered what went wrong. I had an alarm set on my phone to wake me up, especially for subh. Checking, I figured out that my phone actually died, and since I stayed up late chatting with Hameed last night, I couldn't wake myself up since I didn't sleep on time and slept heavily afterwards.

Now I've prayed which is most important. What's next now is to go downstairs for breakfast. I changed my short pajama pants into a long one and tied a scarf around my head, before grabbing my phone and heading out of my room.

As I descended the stairs, I turned my phone on to tell Hameed good morning and check my notifications.

Hameed❣️: Everyday my love for you does nothing but double. Good morning baby girl 💜

S💓👯‍♀️:Make sure not to misbehave oo, today and come back home on time.

I recieved Hameed and Sis Sabira's messages. Typical of Hameed to send me a sweet morning message as usual and Sis, well, we were talking about the event today before I slept off yesterday. She was merely looking out for me like an older sister should, also typical of her.
