Author's POV
Hajiya Fati remained silent even after her daughter's leave. She's doesn't know how to even feel regarding her daughter's ungodly actions towards her husband. She doesn't know whether to feel saddened or disappointed.
She can't even care about anything at that moment. She was scared shitless for her life.
"Zahra'u," Mr Zahradeen called at her softly, trying to hold her hand. When he did, she finally released the tears she had successfully held back while her daughter was here some minutes ago.
"Please, I need you to stop crying. Kinsan yadda na tsana hakan(you know how much i dislike that)." He cooed, endeavoring to get her to calm down.
"A disease is not the end, and more than anything, you're a fighter. I'll do anything in my power to restore your health." He said. It was a promise. The determination in those words of assurance he had told her didn't go unnoticed. His blazing determination to save her. Even though, she was still scared.
A surgery knife had never been used on her. Her body had never been sliced open with a surgical knife. Having to think about taking the surgery was devastating on it's own, not to even talk about the mere thought of the disease she was carrying.
"Look, Zahra... at least we have a solution in our hands. It hasn't reached the stage where it's invincible. You'll definitely get out of this." He squeezed her hand assuringly "we'll hop into the soonest flight to India. Insha Allah, we will. I'll have the best doctors serve you and help you get out of this. I will monitor every process personally"
Finally, travelling abroad after such a long period. That too, with her husband. Afterall, she hasn't been overseas in a long while because of the symptoms which have been on and off.
She's not that thrilled to go to India even though it has been one of the countries she had never been to, yet was dying to go to. Especially since the trip isnt for business or vacation but rather, for health purposes. For a surgery which terrified her to no ends. She just couldn't tie her head around the fact that her body had to be cut open with a knife in order to have her treated.
That's why she had persistently preferred medications over all of the remaining treating procedures. At least, all that medications required was simply to swallow. Merely being poked at by the doctor earlier when they went for the check-up with those horrific medical equipments irritated and threatened her, talkless of a whole surgery. Even her three kids which she owned in this world, she had given birth to each of them on her own.
That's why she's a fighter. She has always been a robust and healthy person. So it's really unsettling and horrifying to be carrying this kind of disease.
As a youngster, she had watched a lot of surgical shows. And she has witnessed virtually the way all of those patients had died in the operation room because something tiny had gone wrong during surgery.
She wants to refuse the surgery. But that's wishful thinking. She has to undergo that surgery. If not, her disease will only continue advancing.
She broke into bigger and louder sobs as she imagined herself dead. Her kids would become orphans, and her husband will have no choice but to move on. It terrified her even more, when she imagined her husband marrying another woman to replace her. All of her furnitures will be shoved out of her chambers and sold out, and the new wife's would replace hers.
