A/n; please if you understand hausa, ignore my English translations because those translations are literally wack😭. I convey the dialogue more properly in hausa and it's so hard to translate. I'm only forcing myself to translate for the non-hausa readers🥺.

Second part of this chapter is coming right after this one. Don't forget to VOTE✨✨✨✨✨

Thanks to everyone who has voted so far☺️. I always smile when i see that someone has voted on my story. Thank you ☺️☺️

Sabira's POV

"Ina kwana Baban Adeel(Good morning Daddy Adeel)? I thought you guys would be on your way" I greeted Abas after I picked the call. It was one of his usual morning calls. Ever since I came to Sokoto from Newark, even before I gave birth to Adeel, Abas made sure he called me every morning. Despite the time difference, he'd still call and make sure he matches the timing with our time over here. His voice was literally my breakfast.

His family were from Koko and yesterday when we chatted briefly in the night, he told me that they'd probably be travelling to Koko. Koko is just a local government area in Sokoto. They were going to visit their grandmother.

"No. We postponed it till Eid" he replied "good morning, ya lafiyanki da na Muhammad(how're you and how's Muhammad)"

I looked briefly at Adeel's sleeping frame with a blush. When he wakes up to feed around 2am in the night, I tend to transfer him from his crib to my side on my bed.

He wakes up thrice in the night. I didn't want to go through the trouble of picking him up and returning him each time since he mostly falls back to sleep after feeding. It results into me sleeping stiffly though, since I wouldn't want to have any prolonged movement that'll lead to me touching him or doing anything which would wake him.

"Adeeli yana bacci(he's asleep). When he woke up at five today he didn't go back to sleep. Ya tanyeni hira. He fell back to sleep some minutes ago" I told him

"Ashe(oh really)! Kenan yana hanama Maman Yara bacci(so he didn't let the mother of my kids to sleep well)"

I laughed.

It's always funny when he'd say Ashe! It's his biggest catchphrase.

We used to call each other Maman Yara(mother of my kids) and Baban Yara(father of my kids) respectively. Wayyy before our marriage even. Weird name for an unmarried couple. Yeah, we're a different set. But it was our private name. We didn't call each other that in public. In public, I'd call him Dr Abas and he'd call me Sabreen.

After giving birth to Adeel though, i changed his name to Baban Adeel(Daddy Adeel). Even so, he didn't stop calling me Maman Yara. I didn't know why, but the name suddenly began to make me feel old. As if I'd given birth to ten kids or so. I requested that he calls me Maman Adeel like i do him, but he remained stuck to his Maman Yara.

He said that Adeel is the first one and there are more to come, so it's not fair to call me Maman Adeel as if I'm his mother alone. I had no choice but to succumb.

With Adeel too. He's the one who gave the name Muhammad Adeel for our baby; Muhammad being the formal name and Adeel being the pet name. Yet he always calls Adeel by Adeel's formal name. It literally feels like ounces of weight have been released in my ears when he calls Adeel Muhammad. Abas just has a different way of doing things and he won't change no matter how much you cringe.

"Uwarsa ya tanya hira ai. I don't mind" I smiled.

"Ya hana miki bacci(he tampered with your sleep). Me I do mind. Though I really wish we'd go to Koko together" he sighed
