Khayr's POV

It's finally the d-day and the makeup artist was here as early as eight to do her job. I was even busy dozing off as she applied my makeup. I was just too tired. I thought the yinin biki was not supposed to be a big deal.

I planned to sleep and not wake up till 4pm but now mom is insinuating that I have to go and sit in the sitting room. The knots will be tied at 10am and a lot of people will be swarming in to give me thier blessings and well wishes. I had to be there, not somewhere in the comfort of my blanket, sleeping.

"Amsa kici(here, eat up). It won't ruin her makeup right? She didn't have anything to eat for breakfast wlhi" Huda shoved a spoon of what I don't know towards my lips, asking the makeup artist for permission to feed me which the lady granted.

I lazily opened my mouth and she fed me what I recognized from the taste to be porridge. I ate a few more spoonfuls from her and flushed everything down my throat with cold water. After such a good meal, what I'm supposed to do next was get sound sleep, but sadly, sleep is too expensive for a bride I guess.

Today I was wearing Ankara, unlike the other days in which my outfits were mostly made of laces, silk and nettings. I think this is the second time since the wedding ceremony began that I'm wearing Ankara. I wore blouse and wrapper on the henna party day but today it's an A shaped Ankara gown which had shiny stones that I was wearing.

After they finished fixing my headpiece, the look was complete. The photographer was then allowed to come in and take my pictures. This was always how it was. After dressing up, before anything the photographer has to take my pictures. You get the logic? As in, coming straight out of the oven. The photo session was over and we headed downstairs.

Everyone was there, Yaya Ramlatu, Yaya Badiyya, Aunty Amatu, Mama Suwaiba, Mom, Sabira and some of our aunties. My nieces and nephews were busy running around, playing. Only Hanifa the quiet one just like her Aunty Huda remained sitted close to her mother. Sakina too should be somewhere with our cousins.

My friends haven't arrived yet, but they'll be coming by 4pm I think for the family photo session before Maghrib when everyone will be preparing for the conveyance. Conveyance of me to my matrimonial home. Merely thinking about that made my insides twist into a knot. As from 10am today, I'm going to be someone's wife. I'm going to be under a foreigner's control. By foreigner I mean someone who isn't my parents.

"Hanee baby, come to Mama Khayr" I widened my arms for Hanifa who was directly facing me. She looked at her mother which made Aunty Amatu laugh.

"Kije wajen auntyki mana(come on, go to your Aunty)" she urged her. Hanifa is honestly such a timid yet adorable child. I think she should be three years old or so.

Hanifa arrived into my arms. I decided to play some games for her on my phone and pet her, in order to cure my nervousness even if it's for a little while. It was a few minutes to ten, so it's safe to say the men are probably at the venue of the daurin aure already since it's going to take place at 10.

In the crowded sitting room we remained. Everyone was relaxed and chatty except for me. A clock was ticking inside of me, like a time bomb and I was on the verge of hyperventilating. I don't know how many minutes passed, but Mom's phone ringing surely brought me back to the world after a little zone out.

She abruptly stood and ecstatically yelled. "andaura(it's done)!!"

Thats it? I'm now a wife? Sul's wife?

"Ayyiririyyyy" everyone stood up, applauding at me and making loud guda sounds. I personally hate guda because it reminds me of how a turkey sounds, but I had to force myself to smile and look okay.
